Hi....

I am very happy someone else has asked this!

Gaia theory, based on ancient Greek mythology but reincarnated by Prof, James Lovelock sometime back now....

Has the idea's that the Earth 'is' one big organism!

Everything in tune, working together to make a life form in itself!

I believe this, it is 'so' obvious to me, although whether this entity is conscious, is another matter!

Gaia Theory fits very nicely with Chaos Theory and Buddhism too!!

Well, if it was a conscious, living thing I imagine it would have treated itself for parasites by now. The fact that humanity still exists would suggest that the Earth is not conscious.

It's a planet. A non-reproducing inanimate object. It can't evolve intelligence. All conscious beings we know of evolved. The only other way they could come about is through being designed by intelligent beings who evolved to be that way.
