Saying that the universe was designed just for humans is just like saying that the Eiffel Tower was built just for the scrape of paint at its tip. The location of humans in the vastness of the universe, and also the sheer transience and insignificance of humans can be seen as almost irrefutable proof that the universe was definitely not made just for humans.

Peace!
What you say after your original question I do agree with. The whole universe is here just for you. Everyone and everything is here only for you and what you do within it is only going to effect only you in the end. When you get judged you can not have anyone vouch for you nor can you vouch for anyone else. So the whole universe is made for only you. However I do not think you asked the question correctly. See the Ego is the worst Idol one can have according to God and his scriptures. Maybe you should have asked do you believe in God and what He teaches enough to accept this teaching.
Thanks for a great issue to talk about

My view of the universe is that everything is for me, because my eyes are the only ones I can truly see through. I don't think it was designed for me, I think I'm the product of a huge chain of events including evolution in the universe. There is nothing wrong with selfishness. Your self is all you really have. As for ego, it is a product of our imagination.

So if I believe in God, then I believe that the whole universe was made just for me? Sorry, but I don't follow that logic...that is a very big leap you are taking.
Arrogance however is a funny subject. It can really only be applied to those who are too short sighted to see that they may be wrong. I can think of two groups that are on here that fit that description. Ironically, these two groups are most of the time fighting each other. Can you guess which two?

Sayong the universe is built implies it has a builder, and that i am an insignificant speck of dust
which is true, considering the amount of people dying in the third world
Deus Ex, did the eiffel tower build itself?

No. I'm a Pagan and I believe that, statistically, there must be life elsewhere. The geocentric view of the universe should have be quashed as soon as Galileo Galilei came on the scene.

I believe that the universe was designed for us. Not just mankind.
But yes. It was designed rather than "kaplowee! here's something from nothing for no apparent reason"
