no! Thing is, they're no longer making any tube TV's, either. They'll all be either LCD or plasma, and they'll all have a digital tuner as well.
If you have cable, they'll provide a set top box, usually a DVR. IF you have just over the air, there's a box you can buy.
LCD's also use less power than a regular tube TV, thus saving you money ont he electric bill, too.

No, you will not need a plasma TV. In fact, unless your old TV breaks or is so small that it doesn't have a place for an external antenna/cable connection, you don't need a new TV at all.
You have probably heard that all broadcast TV (that is, TV you get for free with an antenna) is going to be all digital after 2/17/2009. This is (mostly) true. However, digital TV signals can be cheaply converted to the older analog TV signals.
The 2009 date only applies to over the air TV, cable and satellite companies will still supply the old analog TV signals to customers.
For people who get their TV with an antenna, there are converter boxes that connect between your antenna and your old TV. Starting in Jan 2008 the government will have a coupon program that will let you buy a couple of them for about $20 each. If you already get good UHF (channel 14-69) signals, you should be able to use your old TV antenna.

"is antennas won't work anymore,"
Flat out wrong.
"They'll all be either LCD or plasma,"
And tube, projection, and whatever new technology comes along.
"they're no longer making any tube TV's,"
Tube TVs are still being made and are readily available at Walmart. They include digital tuners that can pick up all digital OTA broadcasts, including "HD" ones. Sales numbers are in rapid decline however, as the price of other types of TVs drop. At the rate things are going, they might be gone in 5 years.

No, a regular TV is fine but you will need some sort of box. All that is really going to change is antennas won't work anymore, so unless you don't have cable nothing will change.
