Agnostics are the open-minded ones (there is a higher power, but we don't know what it is). Atheists tend to be just as stubborn as hardcore Christians, just pulling at the other end of the rope. Frankly, I think they just like to argue with each other; Christians feel the need to defend their God, and Atheists (as a generalization) refuse to believe they're wrong, and that they're not the most intelligent thing in the universe. It's a never ending debate, and neither side will ever convince the other, but neither likes hearing that they might be wrong. Hence, they're constantly at each others' throats.

When Christians post something to the extreme like "My bible is 100% true and if you don't accept Jesus, you will go to Hell (Which I see all the time) that kind of extreme argument tends to bring out extreme responses of either total acceptance or rejection
And as for the tolerance and forgiving part as a Christian, I've read many interpretations of writings by Christians as only applying to other Christians, and they usually bring out a different set of passages for whoever disagrees - usually connecting dissenters with Satan, liars, the blind, etc
And as an agnostic, it's impossible NOT to care about religion, unless you're a ditsy socialite living in a bubble. Not personally, but it affects so many things around the world. It affects politics, conflicts, poverty and all of these things in return affect everyone.

I am disturbed by atheist using Scripture quotes as part of their arguments in a distorted way. If only there were a "Atheist" book which could be cherry picked in the same way.
I am disturbed when Christians pass judgments and declare what the post life consequences will be towards other faiths and the atheists-we are not to make that judgment-that is God's right and not ours. Or when they seem to be begging others to believe. Jesus never begged for believers.
In all cases I address the persons motives and approach not to condemn but to expose the true agendas that they have.

Basically atheists are telling any other religions they dont exist. Christians by natural order mus defend their beliefs. Other religions also would argue about this topic. and tolerance should be everyones goal. But thats why there are HOLY wars. Religions question core values and beliefs against each others.

It's just human nature to be that way. But yeah Christians are supposed to be tolerant of others and what they believe but some of them aren't like that.

Atheist and Christians have completely different view points about life. There is not common ground between viewpoints. I think there are some very angry people on both sides.

you do understand that this is a virtual arena where extreme behavior is not going to get you punched in the nose?
it's easy to be vicious when one is safe behind a monitor in a city miles and miles away.
most of the "extreme" people would never say any of their rot to anyone's face -otherwise there would be fights and battles on the news every day!
but you do make some good points - not that anyone will listen, but good points, nonetheless...

Most are middle-of-the-road atheists or Christians, but this is the internet, where anyone can vent their spleen or go totally postal and remain safe from real-world reprisals.
It's that anonymity that's driving the vitriol...not real attitudes

I think that alot of christians are to tolerant. We sometimes forget that it's part of our job as christians to bring other people closer to god and we get too caught up in being politically correct. I don't know why athiests care so much, I think they just like to be right.
