Where's my...oh, there it is...How is it acceptable for Astrologists to question Christianity? I know that we skeptics can stand back and hurl slings and arrows at them...and I know that many bad things have come of it... HOWEVER... look at all the good that is done everyday in the name of God. I'm a scientist by nature. I write well because I have unusually good rhythm for a white dude. I have been from Maine to Spain to Austin to Boston...I must tell you that there is something out there. I also believe science will find it's true existence before religion does because it is in our nature to explore...
Now, young lady, have read "A Yaqui way of Knowledge"?

you know it seems more often than not stuff gets accepted by religion because it is what the majority of the followers enjoy. Even if it was originally forbidden I doubt many would get upset about a member of the Christian community reading their daily astrology in the newspaper. While I personally don't put a WHOLE lot of thought into star charts and astrology (simply because I feel that we all control our own future by the choices that we make so what it may say in a certain divination is if I choose option A but I still may choose option B,C,D, or E.) I know a large amount of people who do. You do need a good filter on your email lol. Or is this just an attempt to hide the "medicine" and the "sugar" even deeper to fool you? lol =) smile. I know its annoying but have a good day regardless =)

Wow, girl, don't you have a filter for that mess? (My workplace has a strong filter: the work messages get caught, the Viagra e-mails get through. Go figure.)
As to your question: Probably those folks are nominal Christians, people just interested in whatever hits their fancy. Most devout Christians wouldn't touch astrology with a 10-foot pole. Some read their horoscopes for a laugh, but put no more faith in it than a fortune cookie message. However, the book of Genesis says the stars are there for us to note "the signs and the seasons." Many farmers use the signs as a guide for when to plant. You plant underground groups like potatoes when "the signs are in the feet." The farmer's almanac is full of astrological/astronomical blendings like that. So some Christians feel it's okay in that regard.
Did I confuse the issue for you even more?

I get the same thing; Im a Christian and I have alot of nonchristian friends who say they are Christians and send stuff about their signs, or talk about why they are how they are based on an astrological profile. My take as a Christian is that astrology has some truth to it; however, I do not believe it to be from a source that is condusive with godliness, but from a source that is not good.

I think the best way for me to try to answer your question is if I ask you one. It seems you ask alot of quetions about Christianity. I got the impression that you may be a Christian and was just in your own way, talking about Christian views in general. Now I get the notion you maybe you don't really want to get into some things, so I am alittle confused. When you say "Who flood my inbox with Christian emails", it kind of sounds like it may bother you to receive these kinds of emails. Seems to me, if you ask a question about something, you might get an answer pertaining to your question. Are your questions about things you really care about? or are they just things that deep down inside doesn't really matter? I may be misunderstanding you, and if I am, I'm sorry. Help me to understand your reasoning. Thanks.

Many people think that God is at fault for everything that happens in the world. Matthew 4:8-11 says Satan tempted Jesus with the Kingdoms of the World for one act of worship to him. If the Kingdoms of the World belonged to God, Satan would not be able to offer them to Jesus. Truth of the matter is, God offers humans something that Satan can't. 1) Life free from war (Isaiah 2:4, Psalms 46:9,10) 2) Ample food (Psalms 72:6) 3) Housing (Isaiah 65:21) 4) Employment (Isaiah 65:22) 5) Life without sickness (Revelation 21:3-4) 6) Justice and Freedom from prejudice (Isaiah 9:7, 11:3-5) 7) Security (Micah 4:4, Proverbs 2:22). God doesn't bring unforsceen occurances on us...Humans and Satan do it to themselves.

I don't buy into astrology at all, but I do know what my sign is [Gemini]. I don't think most Christians are into astrology [or should be] but then, I could be wrong. People who identify themselves as Christians are into many things that traditionally were not acceptable. I guess I'm just getting old. God looks at the heart of the individual, it is not my place to judge anyone else. For ME, astrology is out.
Astronomy, on the other hand, is not taboo. The stars were Adam's Bible. I have attended a lecture given by an astronomer [Buhl Planetarium Pittsburgh, PA] on the witness of the stars. It was fascinating, but I couldn't do it justice to to try and repeat it here.

No it is not acceptable for Christians to believe in astrology. But some people can have foolish beliefs or just look at their horoscopes in fun. Whatever. Just tell them you prefer not to receive any of those forwards.

Some Astrology can work, and some can be true, whilst others are lies and deceipt. God placed the stars there for the futures, however, since Moses' time, Astrology is witchcraft and is prohibited by the scriptures. I don't practise it! I'd reccommend looking further into The Bible if you want some more information.
