I am not so sure about getting a ring to mark an anniversary...especially since you are already engaged. It would seem more appropriate to me if the ring was purchased for your 1 year WEDDING anniversary.
Of course, it is your life, so you can buy rings if that is what you would like to do. Personally, I just find that a bit odd.

Some guys DO wear an engagement ring, it is not common, but some do, if you think he would like wearing a ring then it's a great idea. A lot of people also celebrate their "anniversary" even before they get married, it's still special to mark the occasion of you getting together, nothing wrong with that so if you think he would like a ring as a gift then I see no reason why not. Some people are a bit funny about men wearing engagement rings as they think that is is just the girl who should get a ring, but it's down to each couple to do what suits them best, so if that's what you want then go ahead!

Well... Me and my boyfriend have been going out for about 2 and a half years. We are going to get each other a ring for our three year anniversary. We're doing it is because it's going to be a promise ring because we can't justify getting engaged right now because we're still in college. In a few years he's then going to get me an engagement ring. If he can't afford a nice one at that time then he's going to get me a cheaper one and when he gets the money he will get me a nicer one. Or sometimes guys get the ring without the stone and when they get the money they buy a stone to place in it.
I think if you're already engaged and he proposed he should have gotten or he should get a ring for you.
I don't think i would get a ring for both of you.
Just my opinion.
Congrads on the engagement though! :)

You are getting both of you a ring?? I don't understand this. You are "typically" supposed to get an engagement ring when marriage is proposed, but if the man is not able to afford one at that time, it's really not that big of a deal. However, I'm not understanding the whole "one year" anniversary thing. You are not married, yet. Why in the world do you want to mark THAT occasion?

I don't think a guy needs an engagement ring. I'd skip the rings and save some money for a house if I were you.

Actually, I'm a little confused. Guys don't wear engagement rings, and I don't understand why you would buy yourself one.

i think guys should do it, but i'm an old fashioned southern girl who didn't get a ring in my 1st marriage, so basically i'm biased.
