Since books like the de Vinci code and holy blood, Holy Grail have come out, I have wondered why there has not been a great effort in books and movies to debunk or disprove Islam like they have done to Christianity ?

Mostly ignorance on the part of the non-Islamic community. Islam is a big, fat, juicy target for debunking. It's almost like shooting fish in a barrel. The teachings and life of the "prophet" (police be upon him) are so self-contradictory and inconsistent with Judeo-Christian teachings that only the brainwashed can take it seriously.

Any widely publicized attempt to even give an honest portrayal of the "Prophet's" life as detailed in the hadith would be met with howls of protest of the majority of the world's muslims, who either don't know much about their own scripture, or are only taught the "nice" parts. I could even see it sparking WWIII, as the "peaceful" religion taook up arms to rid the world of the heresy.

aaj: This whole "Bible has changed" line is getting old. The source texts for all biblical translations predates Islam, and is unchanged from that time. The Dead Sea Scrolls predate Islam by 800 years, and match existing scripture. Just because someone makes a politically motivated translation doesn't mean it is accepted by the main stream, and it simply cannot alter the source document.

I don't think Holy Blood, Holy Grail attempted to debunk Christianity. It was more old-fashioned anti-Catholicism. You can get the same theories from Chick comics and no one suggests said comics are attempting to disprove Christianity.

It's really a question of politics. Most of us on here are westerners. We are not that concerned about Islam because we do not live in Islamic countries. In America, fundamentalist Christianity is not simply a set of beliefs, but a real political force which aggressively lobbies all levels of governments on a great number of issues based on their faith. Many of these articles of faith have long ago been demonstrated to be just plain wrong by scientific standards and are just not realistic ways to organize society.
So the battle is much more than simply ideological; it has very real political ramifications.

There are efforts out there and their voices are being heard. Islam will find itself in the same position as Christianity when it comes to movies and it won't like it.:)

Its a religon driven and largely powered by fear and punishment. Many could not handle a teacher nameing a bear ... imagine what would happen if anyone seriously tryed to debunk it? Now there are many devout and loveing Muslims that would be able to shake it off and say ok this is what I believe and no matter what you prove or disprove I love my god and I know my path... but soo many are not like that hence the beheadings and murders. Its a midevil religon that really needs to evolve some. Christians and many other religons went threw a extream faze and they grew up so to speak and relized you don't have to prove to the world your way is the only one :)

Christianity has not been "debunked"

Those books are admitted FICTION.

Amazing that people will risk their eternal salvation (or lack of it) on a book of fiction and ignore the historical evidence that there really is a God!

Search for the truth.

But the reason is that Muslims tend to be much more up tight about anyone who questions the faith, Christians tend to realize that an honest search will lead people to the Church, not away from it.

Peace!

because the dragon tried to devour the woman's child and then chased her into the desert.

satan is not against islam, judaism, paganism, buddhism, or anything aside from christianity. because the more he glorifies those, the more people will be led astray from that which isn't a lie.

the most decietful lies often sound most like the truth. that is why there are so many denominations within the church... unlike any other religion you'll see in the world. sure there are sects in every faith, but take a look at how mutilated mainstream christianity is. satan is making war against israel and her baby... the Lord Jesus.

Personally speaking, I don't feel it would take much to do, so maybe people don't find it a worthwhile task. Also, it seems there are more extremists from the Islamic faith than in Christian that would react in a very stupid and possible dangerous manner. There's certainly those types in the Christian department, but Islam seems to have less of a problem with their own people flying off the handle.

Many have tried and many have failed. It is a known fact that bible has changed over the centuries in countless times. Most recently, Germany is working on getting a new bible out that is "friendlier" to gays and jews. So where is God's word if you keep editing it? It is also known fact that Quran hasn't changed over 1500yrs and so everything in it is as it was day one.

People are vocal about the issues that affect them.

Although I have noticed a rise in anti-Islam sentiments lately.
