No! A four month old's digestive system cannot digest cows milk. He could get ulcers and bleed. If you insist upon giving "milk" try goats milk in a can. It's already digestable and doesn't contain irritating proteins like cows milk does. Formula or breastmilk would definitily be better, though.

Few dog owners know that most dogs tend to be lactose intolerant. This means that they lack the enzyme beta lactamase, which allows the digestive system to break down the kind of sugar contained in milk.
Dogs that lack this enzyme end up with a lot of undigested sugar in their intestinal tract, which creates a wonderful breeding environment for bacteria. When a lot of bacteria grows in the intestinal tract it can irritate the stomach and intestine and cause vomiting and diarrhea. These are the same problems that occur in lactose-intolerant people.
That being said, while many dogs are lactose intolerant, some are not. Some dogs love the taste of milk and other dairy products and won't have any stomach or intestinal problems when they get some as a treat.
The bottom line is, it may be okay to give your dog a small amount of milk if it doesn't cause her any vomiting, diarrhea, or other discomfort. Check with your veterinarian first to be sure it won't cause your pooch any health problems or interfere with his diet.

Why are you giving your dog cows milk? Dogs need to drink water daily nothing else. That is way to rich for a dog and will probably cause the runs. Do not give your dog milk at all!

Not really on a daily basis, try once every two day. Milk has lots of things in that is good for dogs and little young dogs need those to keep healthy. At that age dogs usually have milk from their mums.

No, Dachshunds can be picky eaters, and I am not sure what is the best to give a pup that young, but I know its not cow's milk. My vet always wants me to feed mine this dry food that he simply will not eat, and the only thing that I could find that he would eat is the pedigree little champs wet food. I would recommend calling a vet, they can give you the best advice on a pup.

I would not do it. After they are weened, they really shouldn't have milk, cheese (any dairy product). All of dachshunds and many other breeds have some level of lactose intolerance that develops over time.
Giving them milk products can throw the natural bacteria in their intestines off, causing diarrhea and when severe enough you may end up having to take him/her to the vet for antibiotics - usually Baytril - to get the intestinal bacterias back in line.

No. Giving dogs any kind of milk at that age or older should be a seldom thing and not a daily ritual.

No this is not ok! Milk in general is not very good for puppies... and adult dogs.. you need to give him puppy food according to his wait and age. You might need the food with cottage cheese if you want, eggs, bananas, apple, carrotts, rice but not milk... milk, chocolate, sugar, etc is not good for your dog. Ask your vet if you need more information or buy a book of how to breed puppies, it is very usefull for many questions...
