that's like asserting Oh Crap whilst that doesn't even make experience. in fact that's a word that every person gets use too. And yeah that's tremendously Ironic, i'm Atheist and that i've got spouted "God Damnit" quiet somewhat. that's part of the kit being raised in a non secular family members.

I typically say O-M-G or Oh my Gah, as did Jessica Simpson on her old show with ex hubby Nick...basically, it's only used as an expression now a days. You're not actually associating it with "your" God. Sheesh! Don't think so much!

An expression that is deeply ingrained into my vocabulary. I'd love to replace it with something else, but it's hard and I don't really care enough to make the effort.

I use the term Oh My Gnomes; in honor of the invisible magical gnomes that live under my deck.

Same reason Christians use words like Thursday, even though we don't believe in Thor.

Words become cultural tools.

It's a figure of speech. Like when you say 'a stab in the dark' but don't actually stab anyone.
