Sounds like anxiety stemming from low self esteem or self assurance.
I suffer from the same thing. When I was in school I used to be quick to raise my hand with the answer to the professors question, only to suffer from a cracked voice, rapid heart rate, and my body trembling in fear.
I took a Speech class my first year in college in hopes that I could get over that fear. Didn't work, I passed out the first time I got up in front of the class to speak. LOL! Funny thing was the professor gave me an A in that class. I think he just felt sorry for me.
There is help, but no "quick fix". Join a "Toastmasters" Club. It will help with your public speaking. Over time it will go away. As for now, try to take some deep breathes, relax. You can use some herbal relaxers like "Kava Kava".

Just picture everyone naked. No seriously, imagine yourself as a child with no fear, notice how children say and do things without a second thought. Alot of them will get up on stage and sing in front of hundreds upon hundreds of people not thinking about the fact they have eyes and are actually watching. Put yourself in that place and say if they can do it so can I. It's a mind thing and it's something that will take time and practice until the feeling goes away.

Good Luck,

1. You are the only one this happens to. False.
2. It's because that's just the way you are. False.
3. You can't change that, you'll have to grow out of it. False.

1. All which I said above is true, if you reverse it.
2. Breathe in and speak loudly with confidence. Think of yourself as smooth and perfect. Imagine yourself as cool.
3. What ever others can do, you can do as well. Practice reading to yourself and imagine that what you say is important.
4. Search for someone who does it well and begin to admire him or her. Monkey see, monkey do.

i felt the same wayfor the first time...my advice is remember they dont know what they dont know. sounds stupid but they dont know what your telling them, so your the expert on your subject. if i tell you the sky is green and i'm the only one who can see it they will trust what your telling them and think your really smart.

JUST BREATHE!!!!! CALM DOWN!!! REHEARSE IN FRONT OF A MIRROR OR ASK SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO WHAT YOU HAVE TO PRESENT IN FRONT OF THE CLASS. YOU SHOULD LET THEM CRITQUE YOU ON YOUR PRESENTATION. IMAGINE YOURSELF READING ALOUD IN FRONT OF CLASS. YOU NEED TO RELAX AND CALM DOWN. ONE TECHNIQUE IS TO IMAGINE YOURSELF SOMEWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN CLASS BUT YOU'RE STILL PRESENTING YOUR PAPER. I'M SURE YOU'LL DO FINE! THINK OF HAPPY THOUGHTS! EVERYONE IS NERVOUS TO SPEAK IN FRONT OF A CLASS. BUT IF YOU RELAX, I'M SURE YOU'LL DO FINE. AND WHEN YOU KEEP ON PRESENTING IN FRONT OF A CLASS, YOU WON'T BE NERVOUS ANYMORE. MY TERACHER USED TO DO THAT TO ME, AND I HATED IT BUT IT HELPED. HOPEFULLY MY ADVICE WILL HELP YOU.
