Puppy Mills are illegal but heck so are drugs...

if you buy a pup from a pet store you are infact SUPPORTING Puppy Mills and giving them money and reason to keep doing it...

The moms are bred over and over until they cannot produce then are sold or killed - true...they are often (but not always) kept in small cages stacked on top of each other...

given little care and low quality food - often under fed because its all about PROFIT...

Not all Puppy Mills are as horrific as others BUT because they all breed with ONLY profit in mind they are all BAD..

NO Reputable breeder would EVER sell to a pet store...

the ONLY way to stop puppy mills is to educate people NOT to EVER buy pups from pet stores...

That is going on still.., but a lot of organization like the aspca are trying to stop puppy mills and things like that. They kill and abuse poor helpless animals. It is really sad. Abusing a animal is a crime and they will eventually get caught and be put in jail. I love animals and I am totally against these cruel people trying to make money by over breeding dogs and stuffing them in small areas together. :(

Puppy mills ARE illegal. If you know of one, you should turn it in.

Puppy breeders actually fall under "farming" guidelines. Even cattle farmers have certain standards they have to uphold in the treatment of their animals. Somehow, people don't get that when it comes to dogs, the same rules apply.

It is illegal, but if people don't report them, then they don't get closed down. If you suspect a puppymill you should call the police or animal control. If the right people don't know they are there, they can't do anything about them.
