My belief that in God's eyes, any lie of any kind or size is just that, a lie, I am not asking here to see if you agree with me, but if you know Bible verses that back that up, I would appreciate having them to hold myself accountable, thanks :)

I would NEVER EVER Lie, if I were hiding Nazi's I would give a true but evasive answer, I can't think of one right now for that scenario, but "I don't know" or" no comment" are not lies, NO< I would never ever lie, I believe there is absolutely no where in the Bible where it says it is ever OK to lie, but I can be proven wrong, NO< I would never ever lie, it is a sin at all time , at least to my current knowledge. Did Jesus ever lie ????

Proverbs 6:16-17 "There are six things that Jehovah does HATE; yes, seven are things detestable to his soul: lofty eyes, a FALSE TONGUE, and hands that are shedding innocent blood,  a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness,  a false witness that launches forth lies, and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers."

JOHN 8:44 "you are from your father the DEVIL, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the TRUTH, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the LIE, he speaks according to his own disposition, because HE IS A LIAR AND THE FATHER OF THE LIE"

PS. 26:4 {Job speaking} "I have not sat with men of untruth;
And with those who hide what they are I do not come in."

PS. 15:1-2 "O Jehovah, who will be a guest in your tent?
Who will reside in your holy mountain? He who is walking faultlessly and practicing righteousness And speaking the truth in his heart."

So you are saying that you would never lie? Under any circumstances.

If you were in Nazi Germany back in the 40's and were hiding a group of innocent people from being murdered by Nazi thugs and an SS officer asked you if you were hiding someone, you would say yes and let those innocent people die just so you do not have to lie?

"Lying is always wrong" is not a good statement. There is no absolute morality when it comes to lying. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad.

You are asked by a Nazi, Yes or no, are you hiding people here. If you say Yes, they will kill the people. If you say no they will not kill the people. No other answer is accepted. If you try to evade, they will assume that you are hiding people. This is a true life situation. This kind of thing happened to people under Nazi control. Your choices are to either lie or let innocent people die. Right now I am thinking that you would let innocent people die and for that you would be considered a monster. Your only correct solution is to lie to the Nazis. There is no way around that.

That is the problem with an abolute moral. There is always a situation that reverses it.

Actually, Exodus 20:16, the 9th commandment, states "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor." The false testimony here is just that; a lie against another human being.
Matthew 5:37 admonishes us to let our yes be yes and our no be no; in this context, we are to do all we have agreed to do.
Many verses admonish us to honor our father and mother and be obedient to law and authority. In many situations, this would also mean being truthful.
As an end note, Christians are no longer bound by the law. Instead, we are bound to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 10:23 and 24 state “Everything is lawful,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is lawful,” but not everything builds others up. Do not seek your own good, but the good of the other person."
I think it is possible to lie rightly under these conditions. How about germans hiding Jews from Nazis - they lied often, but no one would argue that their actions were wrong.

Edit: haha, i seriously did not read the above post before I posted. good times.

Exodus 20:16 says, "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour." It's in the Ten Commandments, for crying out loud.

There are instances where lying is justifiable, and leads to greater good, however.
