I think they should make a compromise. I once attended a wedding where the bride & groom's fathers were both ministers. Each had dreamed of their father preforming their wedding. So the fathers divided up the ceremony so they could both officiate.

The same technique could be applied so they could have a female minister AND a male.

For the best situation they need to agree on the preacher. Though in the end she may have a little bit more of a say if she is paying for the preachers services.

I have never heard of this. In my case we found the church and asked the preacher if he could marry us. In the case of not having a church wedding, both partners should find the preacher btogether and agree upon them. They should feel comfortable with who will marry them.

Its usually the bride's choice, but if the man is uncomfortable with the choice of minister, then a compromise needs to be worked out.

Got an idea! Let THEM figure it out...........it is minor compared to the things they'll have to figure out in the future.

And besides, I've always wondered about having the ceremony in a place the bride wants and the groom having to pay for the minister. But, that's life..............

I think that she is right. In Catholic weddings they usually take place in the Bride's Parish. Tell him to relax as "Married is Married", and it doesn't matter who does it.

If they are not church goers...why do they want a church wedding?
