toadaly, good point! Of course, the bringing of the sword was referring to those who stood for justice and peace being at odds with everyone else

It wouldnt make any difference, invisible friends are invisible friends,
Well, that might be a lie, The 2 people I know who walk the talk, do get a little more respect from me. I like stubborn people. LOL. I dont care what a person believes in or not, as long as they dont preach. I watch people and have admiration for those who show me, by living it, instead of telling me anything.

I think that there would be more respect for Christians if they actually modelled themselves on Jesus, rather than the latest 'evangelist' to come out of America!

They are encouraging more and more Christians to live in denial of their circumstances and the world around them, whilst preaching that they are walking in God's reality!

A simple example would be when someone has been told that they have a terminal illness, but must not speak out anything negative about it! It is SO exhausting and inhibiting because in the end you stand there like a fish with your mouth working, wondering what to say if someone asks how you are!

The American/Canadian evangelical work is all about works and the emphasis is on the individual's strength to believe for something!

It seems to totally deny Jesus' Sacrifice on The Cross, that HE is The Author and Perfector of our faith and that HE Knows His Own Ability to bring HIS Followers safe into Heaven!

I have walked with Jesus for twenty three years now and in that time have seen many Christians doing things that must break Jesus' Heart!

However, I am human myself and, while I try to live as He Asks me to, I sometimes fail Him! In those times I have to trust in His Amazing Love and Grace to Forgive and Draw me on along the path that He Has Prepared for me!

Love in Jesus,

Margi

Yes, Little Father, if Christianity followed the teachings of Jesus rather than those of Paul I'd probably be far more willing to come back into the flock like my Mother wants me to. Instead I's much rather stay an eclectic Pagan because I see far too much hypocracy, too much back-biting, too much hatred for other Christians as well as the other Faiths.
I'll stay over here, being kind to people and treating them like I'd like to be treated. I learned that from my Parents who taught me that God Loves.
Maybe Christianity will catch up? I can always hope.

We would all respect and love everyone else if they were perfect..Trouble is we live in an imperfect world. We are not just bashing religions, or Atheists. We are hating people. If history has proved anything, it is that intolerance is a dangerous mind set.. Slavery, the Holocaust, Stalin, and the Cultural Revolution are the fruits of intolerance and hate. If we can't learn to respect each other as people, we at least need to tolerate each other. mere tolerance is not adequate as a final goal. I would like to see a world in which people are interested in, and value, religions other than their own -- where religious diversity, and Atheism is regarded as a positive factor.

Absolutely. Most non-believers respect and acknowledge the message of Jesus and see it as a logical and progressive answer to spiritual enlightenment.
However, the ignorant retards who mis-interpret such a profoundly beautiful work of art are who we severely disrespect.
Pearls before swine.
Many non-believers would probably listen harder to the message of Christ if these idiots were removed from the equation.

yes. One of the biggest complaints I hear is that Christians are hypocrites, so it would at least take care of that one. And if everyone followed the golden rule noone would ever be rude or unkind or judgmental to others. I've heard many people say they like Jesus but not Christians, and that's just sad.

I'm a Christian and the fact that Christians don't follow His teachings distresses me and makes me very confused. However, if they did, they wouldn't be able to function in today's society and would be ghettoised, because for instance they couldn't have bank accounts, mortgages, would have to live in communes and wouldn't be able to buy most goods due to the corruption of most of the economic system, and quite rightly.

Until i see the parisioners of the Church of England generally living communally, giving away their cars and houses to the poor, refusing to have normal bank accounts and giving up their mortgages, i shall have very little faith that they are true followers of Christ.

Worldliness, envy, and delight existed between particular early Christians. James calls some “adulteresses” because of the fact they have been acquaintances of the international and for this reason answerable for non secular adultery. somewhat, we don't opt to alter into worldly in techniques-set, speech, and strikes, for that could desire to make us God’s enemies. His observe shows us that “a tendency to envy” is a factor of the undesirable inclination, or “spirit,” in sinful people. So if we comprehend that we could desire to combat envy, delight, or another undesirable inclination, enable us to seek for God’s help by using holy spirit. That rigidity, offered by using God’s undeserved kindness, is greater effective than “a tendency to envy.” And while Jehovah opposes the proud, he will supply us undeserved kindness if we combat sinful dispositions.

I don't believe that it makes any difference because, how many Christians follow the teachings of Jesus? The Catholic Church paid out over $1.5 billion dollars because many of its own clergy didn't.
