The fact that some fundamentalists preach a human-made doctrine of rules, and regulations ... rules and regulations that coincidentally support their own political agendas.
These same fundamentalists promote a bad caricature of the True Living God of the universe that basically condemns all the people they want condemned.
Most people are smart enough to know that this sock-puppet god of the fundamentalists isn't real. But these same fundamentalists have manipulated the popular media so that many people think that this fundamentalist idol is the only god there is.
Thanks to the misinformation and manipulation of some fundamentalists and other conservatives, many people who would normally understand and want to worship God, are automatically turned off the minute they hear words like "prayer," or "Lord," or "God."
This is not the doing of Satan. This is a direct result of the watering down of the gospel that fundamentalism bases itself on.

There are a lot of reasons. One is because a new christian is so fired up that they are trying to do the right thing, but do not have the experience to have a meaningful conversation about the subject. Another is all christians are not alike. Some are actually not judging but really are worried that they will not see you in heaven. I can go on, but the choice is yours and yours only. You know time here on earth is only a blink of an eye, compared to eternity, so you need to be aware of the consequences. For someone who does not accept Jesus because they believe in something else, and if they are wrong, then I just can't help but feel for them. Just think if you lived to be 100 years of age on earth, that is nothing compared to the time after your life on earth. Just think about being in constant pain and torture for millions upon millions of years after life in hell. This would scare the you know what out of me. All I am saying is your choices here on earth will determine where you go after your death. So be careful, who knows, you may be hit by a truck tomorrow, so don't wait too long in deciding.

I've noticed that, very often, when Christians are "witnessing" to me, they're so wrapped up in that, it's hard to get them to do or hear anything else. I'm an EMT and recently ran a call for a woman who had run her car off the side of a hill and landed 30 feet below the road. When we got there, she was so busy telling me how greatful she was to God and how she knew it was Jesus that got her out alive, so she was going to go home and think on the meaning of it all, that I finally had to snap my fingers in front of her face to even ask if she was hurting anywhere or wanted to go to the hospital! It was ridiculous!!!! I'm glad they're so happy about their "relationship with Jesus", but the rest of us either aren't interested or have other things that need to be done.

They think all Christians are hypocrites.
In response to bibliophile1954, I agree in that you shouldnt right off hand say they are going to hell. A good starting question is are you 100% sure that when you die you will go to heaven. If they say yes, ask them why. A lot of people have wrong reasonings, so you explain what the Bible says. if they say no, explain to them what the Bible says. That should open conversation and you can explain hell then.

I too. change into presented up going to a Southern Baptist Church. as a be counted of undeniable actuality that we do not want or have a real reason for club in church. because you've an pastime in gaining knowledge of the fact for your self, I propose you overlook about domination and commence reading the recent testomony. through reading Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you'll comprehend what and who Jesus is and change into for the period of his time the following in the international. you would possibly want to wish to envision it over a number of circumstances. After being a Christin for decades and having believed and universal Christ, I nonetheless could learn (understand) what I examine. To examine some thing we are able to speed examine yet frequently do not comprehend what we've realized, if some thing. i attempt to save gaining knowledge of by ability of interpreting daily yet there's most of the former testomony that i do no longer understand.

The fact that they are using words, not actions. Talk is cheap. Preaching the Gospel does not mean aggressively buttonholing perfect strangers and inquiring about a very personal part of their lives, their relationship -- or lack of one -- with God. Far better, and more Scriptural, to live our faith so that the light of Christ shines through us and allow the Holy Spirit to do His work.

I kinda hate to say it, but it sounds so "plastic" and insincere. When people approach me (not knowing that I am a Christian) its as if they are trying to get little "plus" marks in their personal books of life.
I think we need to throw away that term "witnessing..." and replace with " having a conversation." The most powerful things are said during intimate conversations.
My basic stance... keep it real. "Real" ain't stuff a tract in my hand and ask me, "have you been saved?"
regards

One reason?
Well.
Because all Christians who attempt to convince me that they have the "one, true, and only truth" are, by their very words, telling me that I am so ignorant, so stupid, so unable to think for myself, that they presume they have the right to interrupt my conversations or my travels and steal my valuable time to sell me their own choice of religious spirituality. I find this presumption and arrogance offensive on the face of it...in addition to which, every assumption implicit in their actions is incorrect.
Witnessing by lapel-grabbing is every bit as offensive and obnoxious as are the invasive marketers who clog my mail with direct mail, my telephone answering machine with telemarketing solicitations, and my e-mail Inbox with spam.

Christians believe they are offering a cure to people who do not beleive that they are sick. It's tantamount to telling your neighbor they have gangrene and you need to amputate their big toes without bothering to even look at their feet.
The most effective witness needs never say a thing about Christ. Rather, she does what Christ would have her do.

There was a Baptist preacher who used to try converting me every May when he was soliciting his summer Bible classes for kids. I never minded listening to him talk. I was raised to be respectful and to allow everyone a chance to speak.
However, what bothered me was the look of hatred in his eyes every time I said to him, "I'm sorry, but I don't share your beliefs." If looks could kill, he'd have taken me out long ago. His wife had a tendency to look upon my family with pity, and I found that to be very condescending.
