I've heard from a few different places recently that the world will end in December of 2012. Does anyone have any insight on this? Does anyone believe this? If this is widely believed to be true, does anyone think that there will be a series of riots and looting when it comes to be that time?

"2012" brings about the Age of Aquarius, by the astrological calendar... Many psuedo-psychics talk about it, too.

Here's what's interesting, however: some Biblical scholars have also predicated 2012 as significant, linking the astrological sign of "Aquarius" (Water Bringer) to that of Jesus who is said to "bring us water" (whatever that means) during this period...

Also, a scientist by the name of Terrance McKenna claims that his "Novelty Theory" will bring about a "shift in consciousness" (i.e. "a great big event") in mankind.

So, it may not literally result in a *physical* "end of the world" as we know it, but a metaphysical or spiritual shift in the way mankind thinks!

In about 5 billion years or so the Sun will run out of fuel. When this happens the core will collapse and the outer layer will be temporarily blown off and it will expand. This expansion will stop somewhere around the orbit of the Earth. Rather or not it engulfs the Earth, it will certainly be the end of the Earth as we know it. Then the Sun will shrink down and cool leaving whatever is left of the Solar System in the dark.

December 25, 2007. This is a prophecy... if it doesn't happen on that date then I must have misinterpreted the year so we'll just have to keep increasing the year until it happens. Oh, and did I mention that same fact about the month and day. Yeah, it will definitely happen some time after I finish this sentence.

Look. there have been so many so-called end of the world dates that I do not even believe in them any more. There is no actual proof to this.

In fact as you are reading this right now the world could end due to a gamma ray burst in outer space.

If the world ends it ends.

The end could come in 5 minutes, tomorrow, a year from now, 100 years from now, 1000 years from now. All I know is that you better be ready.

Matthew 24:36.
No one knows the hour not the angels or the son .
So that kills two birds with one stone
No one knows and Jesus is not God,else he would know.
So if Jesus don';t know & the Angels don't know , how would man know ?

2012 will mark the end of the Mayan calendar. Nothing more than they will need to get a new one (just like when my calendar ends)

AAAA!

Drat, wrong again.

The world will end in a few billion years when the sun explodes and the solar system is burned to bits.

Worry more about right now and doing virtuous deeds. The future will take care of itself.
