If a Mac system came out I don't think that it would be better than the PS3 but I think that it would be better than the Xbox 360. Basically for any system to be better than the PS3 it needs to have either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray built in and a chip that is just as powerful or more powerful than the Cell Processor.
Also, after seeing that nearly all Mac products cost more, the system would be pretty high in price. And most of all, there would be no reason for Mac to release a console because it's all about Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. If a Mac game console were to come out, it would probably end up just like the Dreamcast..... dead in a few years.

Not sure about ease of use, I've been an IT guy for over 10 years working with PCs, I've built my own PCs and can support almost anything Windows related, get me in front of a Mac with a problem, and I can't even figure out what's wrong with the machine.
As far as Mac making a gaming console and it being better than PS3 or 360, well it would certainly be much more reliable than the 360, but then again, the weathermen are more reliable.
It would definately be more expensive though, no question about that. When you compare a Mac with a set of specs and a PC with similar (or even better specs) the Mac is always almost twice as expensive.

I think it would be worse than 360 and PS3 because they have no experience in this industry. That is purely on the technical front and the features. On the hype that they will create and the desirability of the product is concerned they will beat those two hands down. They have a history of coming out with products that might not be the best in the market at that time but the frenzy and demand created is awesome! Look at the iPhone, there are MUCH better phones out there with a lot more features....

The graphics of such a system by apple would be be near photorealistic but let's be honest, currently what apple only game is better than a PC exclusive game? None come to mind.
If apple did decide to come out with a game system I think from a competitive standpoint it would be great, but I believe since both consoles are on their 2nd and 3rd generations it would take a while for apple to be as good as if not better than Sony and Microsoft's systems.

i personally think it would be worse because no game disingers will want to make games for it and it will need to build up its repuation like the ps3 has
