You will notice that most brands of golf balls have the name as well as a number following it. This number represents the number of dimples on the ball... for example... Titleist Pro v1 392, means the ball has 392 dimples. I think there was an Optima ball that was 338, it had 338 dimples as well. The Srixon AD333, has 333 dimples

It ranges between quite a wide range. If there are too few it doesn't roll correctly on the green. If there are too many it is too smooth and they could just not be there at all. If you go to the different web sites for golf ball manufacturers you will find a very wide range of dimples, but usually between 300 and 500.

It varies from one manufacturer to another and between models for some brands. They can also be different shapes, most are round but some are little hexagons and octagons. Different dimple patterns have an effect on the flight of the ball due to different spin rates.

It is on the ball, well most balls anyway, should make one with ears for when we lose the little buggars, just call out and they answer with a beep or something, probably have got em, i bloody need one of them.
