I am very disappointed in them after reading they made the TOP 10 LIST for WORST PRODUCTS EVER - because they Blamed CHINA for the lead and bad design flaws in the products that were recalled...Matel itself was to blame - and even though they have publically admitted that it was wrong to blame China - I feel the damage was done... I will not support this company (heck I try to support LOCALLY made companies more anyhow...)

How do you feel about Matel? will you continue to support them?

No, but then I have never bought their products for the children on my shopping list. I only buy fair trade toys because I think that toys should be made for children, not by them.

My husband and I are currently being toys for our son who's do in March. We buy everything through Human Rights Watch approved companies because we know that the toys are made to high standards and are not using slave labor.

And I would certainly not buy Mattel after everything that's happened.

Outsourcing to China is not a good idea for numerous reasons. Poor supplies and materials are one part, the abuse and oppression of the employees is another.

This is one of my favorite sites:

Yes I will still buy Matel toys. I also think that parents are responsible for testing their children for Lead, and for insuring that they do not give toys with small parts to children who still put them in their mouths. My children are tested for lead at least once a year.

Thanks to Mattel my son has a blood lead level of 13.7(but slowly going down.) I would buy from them again however, because childen with proper diets and proper hygeine don't absorb that much lead into ther systems anyway, as a general rule. They actually helped me realize that was slacking in my care of my son. And after this whole debacle they will definitely be more careful. So yes definitely.
