Time is a healer. Give him time, perhaps as much as a year. Then pleasantly suprise him one day. You could then become good friends. It happenned with me, my ex-wife is my best friend and always will be, but if you'de said that would have happenned at the time we split, I wouldn't have thought that possible.

I had the same problem with my ex but the other way round. Sometimes its best if you have the complete break, especially if he is hurting right now. Stay in touch maybe by text or email but give him time and see how he feels in a month or so.

Obviously you are correct. If you don't want to end up back in his "clutches" stay away. He said it, he can't resist you. Don't worry about being cruel. Just make it clear that if he wants to be friends that fine, but that's all. That is if thats what you want.

I am like that if a girl rejected me I wouldn't be the same again, I would change completely, not only that I wouldn't be able to be near her, but I couldn't talk to her, I would just look at her with sympathy. It would be the beginning of the end for me!

He says he can't resist you because he's feeling weak and vulnerable...or he's much smarter than you're giving him credit for and he's manipulating your feelings to his advantage. Either way, don't EXPECT him to want to be your friend after you guys have shared more than friendship. If it does happen however, you will be pleasantly surprised.

If conversing with him brings lower back undesirable innovations, i could recommend you progression on with out him on your existence. in spite of the undeniable fact that if being friends with him is so important, then i could communicate over with him approximately that. in spite of the undeniable fact which you may ought to recover from issues that occured in the previous so you could be mushy seeing him as a pal. finally that's as much as you. sometimes some issues are maximum suitable left in the previous. by means of fact it became right into a messy breakup, it must be maximum suitable to flow away that financial disaster of your existence closed.

you need to give him time. For now just ignore him and don't be in touch with him. When he's over you he'll hopfually want to stay friends with you.
