Yes -for one who thinks they are this body or who has bodily attachments,or for one who does not know to think of God at the time of death. (Also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, Hari, etc.) We can overcome death by chanting the Holy name of God at the time of death purely. Then we will attain or constitutional positon as pure loving servant and spirit soul.

I have not died as yet. Death is painful for the people who are left behind and not really for the person who dies. The people who have had near death experiences claim that all pain is gone as you come out of your physical bodies, you become pure sublime consciousness and are engulfed in a bright light that is very calming and peaceful but one is in this blissful state for a very short time, and the soul transmigrates into a new form, the process of trnasmigration of soul in a new form is a closely guarded secret of GOD.

Death is separation of gross material body and subtle body. At the time of death, five subtle senses merges into mind, and mind into Prana, and Prana into Separated Consciousness (Soul), and Separated Consciousness into Cosmic Consciousness. There is no pain, as the faculty which gives us pain (five subtle senses) have already merged in the mind and mind in the Prana.
But the prior to normal death one goes through following phases -
1. Retaliation, non acceptance - why this has happened to me.
2. Acceptance, this has happened with me.
3. Let it go, this is so.
4. Death, the final adjustment :-)

Death per say isnt painful. What is painful is the moment when the conscious self retracts itself from the senses where in as a human we lose all perception of things around us. Just that fraction of time is when we feel pain.

It is not, but it has been made that way and a mindset is created in which death is considered negatively as body is struggling to leave life and the mind bemoans of loosing ones possession! There can be a positive mindset in which death may be considered as fulfilment and a beginning of a dawn of new life.Pain of life is of misery and disease, death itself has no special pain of its own for us.

Depends on how you die. I used to work in a nursing home, so I saw a lot of dying people, and it goes differently for different people. If you're happy with the life you lived, and ready to die, I wouldn't say it's painful. For other people, they are just hanging on wishing for more time. I guess the more happiness you have in life, the more peace you can have in death.

death is not painful because u r either instantly reincarnated (no time 4 death) in limbo (where u r basically numb) or a spirit clinging 2 ur previous life which in that case can b painful. why do u ask?

Sudden death like heart attack while sleeping, severe heart attack, plane crash -all the deaths which occur within seconds are not that painful otherwise DEATH is very painful because no pain after that.

My Guru used to say that normal death is pleasurable, becos anything that is controlled & when you release, it will be pleasurable. In the same way direct energy when it is released from the body will be pleasurable.
Death, if it happens by suicide Or accidents the body will feel the pain but not otherwise.
