There's more money in the US than in China.

Global warming is not about the care of the environment, it's about shifting money.

Well this is the big problem with Kyoto it turns a blind eye to places like China and India because it's much easier to beat up on the "old standby". Granted we should be doing more and we should have been doing more all along, but many in the US are starting to become aware of what they can, and have to do, but why should that mean we should ignore what's going to happen in the future from places like China and India and others, incidentally places that are notoriously corrupt and not having no
regulations.

That would make way to much sense and will not happen. Global warming is a hoax designed to bring down America. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Americans wield more influence over American politicians; by 'beating up' on America first, perhaps we can also influence Chinese leaders to do something to curtail the serious threats posed by global warming. For the United States of America to expect all other nations to become environmentally conscious, without taking the lead toward such responsibility, is reprehensible.
The U.S. should be leading the way toward sound ecological policy and encouraging other nations to follow.
Unfortunately, American politicians (and most of their constituents) have no interest in global warming issues because it might force them to become less wasteful and sacrifice their comfortable lifestyles. -RKO- 12/05/07

Certainly both countries need to be doing a better job.

But trying to straighten out your own country first is an honorable activity. It's not disloyal.

If you believe your country is the best, and a world leader, you want it to act appropriately.

By the way, by using our technological power in an intensive effort to develop alternatives to fossil fuels, we could make a zillion dollars. It's dumb not to be doing that.

I feel we shouldn't beat up on anyone. With that said, I do feel since the technology is there it's irresponsible to build power plants and factories using old technology. Isn't it more cost effective, in the long run, for these new companies to build using the most up to date technologies, instead of having to upgrade these companies later?

Let's clean our own backyard before telling others to do so. We need to set the example. We need to change our attitudes first. Do as I say but not what I do.

We, as Americans, must first take responsibility for our own actions. Do as I do, not as I say. Lead by example. Until that happens, there will be no change.
