I don't go to one of those churches, and I wouldn't. I seriously hate to see Christians living lavishly and having churches to match their lifestyle when there is so much need in the world. I was at a church about a year ago when I visited my grandma where they spent all this money to decorate the bathrooms very lavishly, make sitting rooms with fancy couches, etc... Why not start a soup kitchen or vocational training with that money instead?? I think it's nice to build a good place to worship God, but not when it takes the place of helping others.
PS- I do go to church, a large, healthy, thriving church in a modest building with a pastor who doesn't drive a fancy car :-)

I agree with you and this is not just in Churches only. even others like Muslim and I'm one of them. because at that time people using the God as word and the religion as tools to get what they want. if you love God don't own more than what you need and think about only to live today and you will see that we all take care about each others and no wars and only love and peace. I agree with you but remember there is good and bad people around the world and this what life is.. Big Test and we must pass it asap. with little mistakes if we can. Take Care.. have a nice day and i hope i didn't offended anyone.

I went to one that was worse. My EX pastor told his congregation that if they didn't pay tithes that they were cursed and was doomed to spend eternity in Hell. He drove Lincoln Navigator on 25s and his wife drove a Bentley. They lived in a $1 Million house and had it professionally decorated. They have a maid and 2 personal assistants... Here's the kicker... The church has been holding services in an elementary school for 7 years. They cannot raise enough money to build a building.
...And thus my belief in God went out of the window.

Oh, I just wish we had that kind of money.
Not all churches do. The churches I go to have ordinarily been scraping to pay their bills. They put more into helping people, then try to pay their own bills.
There ARE, however churches like you describe. I could never be comfortable in a huge church.
Even churches, not just individuals, have to be stewards of what God has put into their hands.
What would Jesus say?
That's His department...all judgment belongs to Him.
He will judge their roles as stewards.

You hit on a real sore spot among us Christians. In the Bible God predicted that in the end times the church would fall away from the faith and become "lukewarm" and "apostate". Without any doubt that has happened and what you see today is not the church as God intended it to be, but the church that has fallen away from God. This money hungry churchianity, sad to say, is bringing much discipline from God in these days. Someone once said to the church, "There is lots of money to do the work that God wants us to do, but we are spending in on ourselves."

Well our church is building a new church, because we grew out of the old one that only would seat 250. We support missions, and quite a few at that. We help our church family out when needed. Not every church is like what you see on TV.

There is such thing as a someone claiming to be a Christian but doesnt follow Jesus and his teachings. that is why a lot of people dont want to follow Chritsianity, because of this hypocrisy.
And i dont blame them.
But i am a Christian and try to follow the teachings of Jesus. And based on what i know, Jesus would not be please with the "church" doing this.

they are wrong to do that...and they will get punished for it...
there is no way they can talk about the love of Jesus unless they practice the love toward others...and this means putting others before yourself
Jesus never even had a church building..and he did not take a salary either..and he spent most of his time with the poor.....that is REAL Christianity...

It is absolutely ridiculous that churches are permitted such amassing of wealth.
Christians in the first century did no such thing. It was a matter of assisting the poor and helping each other -- but amassing wealth in the church -- there is no such record.
It should be done away with.

It's because they wrote the bible to scare people into giving them money - all of it - and do whatever the church wants them to do.
