Do you need a security clearance for civilian projects? since the price of oil is going up there is more interest in nuclear power.

I used to work with a guy who had a physics degree, he taught classes in using computer graphics programs like Photoshop ™ Sure that didn't make much use of his degree, but it put food on the table (and my sister with a PhD in botany teaches crafts in an elementary school) I'll bet there is some physics involved in making a good latte, Strarbucks seems to keep opening new stores all the time.

While I don't know that a nuclear engineering degree will be of much use, the army is in the business of making small dense objects go fast and/or expand rapidly, so a physics degree might be useful (and I hear they are hiring)

usually when you go to work for a company, they do all the work in getting you a security clearance. so, just apply for places you would like to work , and the process for obtaining clearance will play out in the first few weeks/months of your new job

Either get a clearance, or teach college engineering or physics classes.

You could move to Iran or North Korea. I'm sure they'll pay you a lot of money. Or you could act as a bad guy in 24.
