This is such a good question. Congratulations, your the first Ive given a star to.

Chances are, if youre born in one religion, you are more likely to claim its God as "right".

For those who expand their knowledge of other religions, the original serves as a (changing) template for their personal discovery of God.

Whatever the case, with so many religions claiming to have the "right" one, how would a rational person go about finding the one that is truly "right"? You could say you feel it in your soul... but dont other people who choose other Gods also feel it in their soul?

The answer is there is no way. However, as stated in similar, previous answers, a truly loving God would only judge your intent and devotion to compassion and spirituality, not whether or not could arbitrarily pick out which God to follow.

Jaicee - great 360 point.

I like to believe that there is only one God.
That this "all knowing God" knows & understands how it is that every religion came into being, how people came to set their religion's rules, etc.
I think God also knows and understands why some people are unable to believe in God.
.
I think that God sees past all that when judging the goodness of a person's soul.

There was an Egyptian king who wanted to see which religion was true, Christianity, Judaism, Islam.

He called a Priest, a Rabbi and an Imam, to see which one would present the best argument.

The Christan priest was told to go first, he said no the Jews were here first so the Rabbi should go first. They argued then agreed for the Imam to go first.

The Imam was asked to present his case, he said, “If the Jews are right then the Muslims and Christians are okay because believe in Moses. If the Christians are right then the Jews have a problem and the Muslims are okay because we believe in Jesus. But if the Muslims are right then the Jews and Christians have a problem because they don’t believe in Muhammad.” (peace and blessings of God be upon him).

No one truly knows which God is the right one and which isn't, but religion isn't about teams and choosing the winning side. It's about sticking with the faith you fell most comfortable following and it doesn't really matter which one because what people don't realize is that all religions have the same basic teachings of morals and ethics. If your worried about the part were you die and then you realize you were following the wrong religion, i don't think it will matter because the God that is real will always forgive you and wont base your afterlife upon how you prayed or what building you prayed in, but if you lead that life well and at least followed those morals and ethics.

I refer you to Pascal's wager -

You live as though God exists. -
- If God exists, you go to heaven: your gain is infinite.
- If God does not exist, you gain nothing & lose nothing.

You live as though God does not exist. -
- If God exists, you go to hell: your loss is infinite.
- If God does not exist, you gain nothing & lose nothing.

There are only minor differences between religions, and they are almost all based mainly on the Bible even if they do have different names for they religious books.

Nearly all religions loosely/strictly follow the Old Testament, it is only really the New Testament that makes Christians and other religions different.

A Jew following the Old Testament and a Christian reading it would believe the same things, Christians just believe that Jesus was rthe Messiah and Jews don't. Muslims believe that Muhammed was the Messiah (I think) but don't dispute the fact that Jesus lived, they just believe that He was another messenger like David, Job etc.

Whatever religion you follow should be the one that makes the most sense to you and one that you can relate to most of all. At the end of the day, God is God so whatever one you believe in (except Buddhism i suppose) it's the same God! Just a different picture painted of what different people think He is like.

Whether God exists or not, it is impossible to tell until your dead, by which point it's too late.

Something had to start off the universe, but whether that was God triggering a chemical reaction or something that just happened naturally, who knows.

Whatever you believe and which ever you believe in, it'll be too late by the time you find out if it's the right one!

because i refuse to name Him.

because His name can never be spoken, therefore He cannot be made into a human image. this is why the Jews refused to speak His name, so that they would not defile the image of God. once you name God - even as "God" - you have put the idea into a mold which you have created of your own will. i know the God i know is the right one cause He is the only one, and I do not claim to know a single thing about Him. For all i know, He could manifest as every single god throughout the history of this planet, or He could just be one of them. I do not claim to know. i let Him do the claiming.

There is only one Creator Spirit who is all things to all people. I may see Her in a different way to you but it is still the same God/dess.
