Praise the Lord for His Word that is His breath to us!
Breath in the bible is always associated with the spirit. God breathe into man's nostrils the breath of Life and man became a living soul.
In John 20:22 the Lord Breathed into the disciples and said' " Receive the Holy Spirit"
This word breath is Pneuma in the Greek and signifies the Spirit of God and even man's spirit within him. Both match eachother.
So here we see that ALL.. hallelujah ALL scripture is God-breathed!! and its useful for Teaching rebuking correcting and training in righteousness.
I do not know if our brothers Peter and Paul realized the HUGE scope of what they said. Considering how much the Word of God is thumbed down at and looked down upon by unbelieving ones..let alone attacked by Satan..I am just SO eternally thankful that these verses were written in the bible to attest that ALL of it is the genuine article!
The Breath , Pneuma, the Spirit of God inspired men to write the Word of God. I truly am just in awe when I think of this God, working along in and with His creature man to compose this GOd-breathed book for us to know His eternal heart's desire and purpose. Think about it brother.. for God to even accomplish His purpose He too became a man:) Satan may want to make us feel like we are nothing but to God we are so much:) Praise the Lord that He will even use man to mete out His judgement upon Satan:)Wow!
I also appreciate that since the Scriptures is God Breathed.. it takes the God breathed part of us.. our regenerated spirits to LAY HOLD and Substantiate all the riches contained in the scriptures.
Our mind won;t do it... our good knowledge won't cut it... its our spirit within us that is able to know the deep things of God.
Deep calls unto Deep...our spirit is the deepest part of our being and has the capacity to plumb the very depths of God. WOW.
Brother.. May we just have our being so open to the Lord... where we can lay hold of the vast dimensions of Christ with all the saints. We are not here for the " Knowledge of Good and Evil" .. we are here to Take Him in His word as Life.. as the Tree of Life. Knowledge puffs us... the Letter kills... but its the Spirit Who gives life.. the words that He has spoken to us are Spirit and Life.
The Word and the Spirit are ONE.
May we have the word in our hands and the Spirit within. Teaching us as the anointing all that is on God's heart. So that we can be those giving ourselves day by day for His purpose and Will:)
Excellent Q brother Primo

Actually they had the Septuagint which was most of the old testament. 70 rabbis translated it into Greek..so the Jews of Jesus' time did have the scriptures available. Peter quoted from Joel on the day of Pentecost.
In the council that met in the 400th century, set the canon for scripture. was set and inclusion had to meet a certain criteria including divine inspiration.
I don't think they realized the scope of their writings....I think if Philemon hadn't followed Paul's suggestions there would have been another letter and he Philemon wouldn't have shared it with the church...Paul wrote most of the New Testament. I think he had no idea the church would pass on his letters...or they would one day be included in scripture.

Compare to people that say, "the apostles expected the second coming of Jesus in there time."
CONSIDER:
Moses was year 2513, at Exodus, 3560 years ago, at 2007 after Christ, the bible has been in circulation in the world 396 years. So it speaks to us as us being in the last days or the time of the end, that is exactly the truth and the fact.
Daniel year 3460, 606 B. C. Dan.12:1-13 [ Michael and the time of the end ];
John year 100 C. E. Rev. 12:3,4,6-11,12 [ Michael and Satan in Satan's short time in the time of the end ]; The word in the world in the time of the end.
Matt.13:37-39; The time of the end.
Matt.24:3,7,14,15,36-39 [ the time of the end ];
Matt.25:31-35 [ the time of the end ]; Rev.9:1-5 [ 5 x 30 = 150 ]; The pit is open for Satan, God's sealed are there, turmoil & confusion of Babylon spirit. Rev.18:1-6; The time of the end.
All this is proof of 2Tim.3:16; How could apostles mean it for year 100 C. E.
We have only had it 396 years at 2007 C.E.

When they spoke of "the scriptures" and "prophecy", they were referring to the Hebrew Tonach. They did not view their writings as being scripture at the time (except for the words of Christ Himself). In fact, I'm pretty sure that even those writing the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel did not think they were writing anything prophetic or on par with the Torah.
It is God who sets His Word apart as holy and authoritative. And according to Isaiah 34:16, it is His Holy Spirit that gathers up the Canon--not man--not sects. It is up to us to study and find ourselves approved for what we know.
Paul was given a LOT of grace by God because he sought the Word of God with a passion. So much so that he thought he was doing his Lord a favor by persecuting the Christian. Only when God showed Him the light of His revelation that it all made sense and he repented.
When the Bereans sought to double check what Paul was saying, they used the Hebrew scriptures. In this they were able to find the confirmation of his message. I read the New Testament daily. And after 37 years, I have found that the Hebrew scriptures confirm everything that is said there. They are both from the same Authorship.
Isaiah 34:16
“Search from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them."

There appears at the present time to be increasing consensus among Catholic and non-Catholic exegetes regarding the Petrine office in the New Testament….
The further question whether there was any notion of an enduring office beyond Peter’s lifetime, if posed in purely historical terms, should probably be answered in the negative. That is, if we ask whether the historical Jesus, in commissioning Peter, expected him to have successors, or whether the author of the Gospel of Matthew, writing after Peter’s death, was aware that Peter and his commission survived in the leaders of the Roman community who succeeded him, the answer in both cases is probably "no."…
If we ask in addition whether the primitive Church was aware, after Peter’s death, that his authority had passed to the next bishop of Rome, or in other words that the head of the community at Rome was now the successor of Peter, the Church’s rock and hence the subject of the promise in Matthew 16:18-19, the question, put in those terms, must certainly be given a negative answer. Likely Peter and Paul never imagined that their letters would be collected and compiled decades later and made into a book that would inspire and incite for centuries into the future. Even more unlikely is that they would imagine their letters being compiled under an emperor like Constantine who didn't mind using a sword when worlds failed to convert folks. Also consider that they had no access to the other letters like Johns Revelation. They likely never saw it and may never have seen many of each other's letters. They traveled frequently. Paul in particular seems certain, according to his words, that Christ's return was immanent, likely in his lifetime, and was focused on preparing people for it. Peter worked more in the Jewish tradition, building an institutional framework.

I think you may be thinking along the lines of how men and women are today, there is too much error now a days and too many who are truly out of God's will, I believe the way we come into knowledge and love of Jesus Christ is by trying God's spirit by the spirit, by being on one accord with the father and by prayer and fasting. God will not lead us a stray. in saying that, we ask God our father how do we know him more and can we trust his word. God will then give us his understanding. In my answers from God it leads me to understand, that these early day saints were in accord with God and in touch with his divine will. The word of God says in the last days mysteries will be revealed. So that means, God will give us more understanding of things we need to know especially as latter day saints. I think peter and Paul, understood that they were doing the will of

From what I read in the scriptures, it appears that a lot of the Bible authors did not realize the full scope of what they were writing. That is why they had to be "inspired by God" to write it. It was not just their idea or understanding, but exactly what God wanted said.
I wonder how many of them in heaven look back at their own writings and are amazed that they prophecied what they did.

Your assumption fails for here motives: a million) First, each and all the religions like the Mayan faith, the Philistines, Enlil etc are considered fake "gods" by way of Christians, imaginary at maximum suitable & inspired by way of devil at worst, considering the fact that Christianity considers itself the single authentic faith with the single authentic God, it greater helpful coach greater suitable morals than different gods & religions. 2) All primitive religions have not got barbaric & cruel Scriptures conversing of homicide & rape, please discover such words in Buddhist & Jain Scriptures, Buddhism & Jainism began 500 + years earlier Jesus replaced into born. 3)As Anne Lammott reported, "you could effectively anticipate which you have created God on your very own image while plainly He hates a similar stuff you do." to that end, as you reported, primitive human beings replaced into commonly evil, genocidal, misogynistic etc-& if the supposedly One authentic God too starts to demonstrate those characteristics, then He seems equivalent to a figment of primitive men's evil imaginations' in preference to a real God authentic?

Yes. Peter put Paul's writings on a par with "the other scriptures."
This is in one of the epistles from Peter. My memory has slipped as to where.
