I thought there might be something to the old wive's tale. It seemed as though I lived on Tums and consumed more soymilk than usual the last month of my pregnancy. Tums, soy milk, diet Sierra Mist and diet Hansen's ginger ale (all natural; made with Splenda, which isn't natural). I didn't drink the soda too much because it's soda, but antacid and soy milk I had frequently.

My daughter was born with a full head of hair. Either the doctor or the nurse (maybe it was my mom) commented on it as my daughter was crowining.

Now I wish I had had a dollar every time I've been asked if I had heartburn with my pregnancy. The campus pastor of my husband's school (he's in seminary) asked me that and said that the Mexican midwives she knew when she was pregnant told her the same thing. The nurse at my daughter's pediatrician's office asked if I ate a lot of beans. Well, being that I'm I like beans and I'm vegan, yes. (We told her that.)

Also, I think it's genetics. My mother-in-law gave me a photo of my husband at six weeks and he had a full head of hair too.

We were told by a few people (I think my mother included) that her hair would fall out and she would get a whole new head of it. Nope. It's only getting longer. I think I've found more of my hair on her than hers.

It'll be interesting to see how any subsequent children are born.

Oh, genetics probably. Some babies get the genes for hair, and others don't. It's just a luck of the draw kind of thing. Take my family for instance... when i was born, I had a TON of brown/black hair that was pretty long (for a newborn). But the rest of my siblings (3 sisters, 1 brother) were totally bald when they were born.

This is an old wives tale if the mother has heartburn then the baby will have hair, this has worked for me i had very bad heartburn with all 3 of my children and they were all born with a full head of hair like a toilet brush if you wish. If you mean how do you get your baby to have hair then i dont know. Eat plenty of fruit and veg look after the mum, and it could of course be due to genetics

Its just genetics, I was born with no hair whatsoever, my husband with a head full, and according to our sonogram our technician says our little girl will have lots of hair 2! So i cant wait to find out tommorow! :)
and

By the way to the answer by: sexiebum Its actually not a wise tale anymore! They proved it medically that the hormones that make our hair grow is what also gives us heartburn and acid reflux, so maybe thats why it was true for her :) and I also 2 have heartburn REALLY bad, but my baby isnt born until tommorow so i cant say anything yet!

Both my babies had a lot, my first child looked a bit like Elvis when he was born he had sideburns, black hair everywhere but luckily a lot of it fell out but he still has a good head full now, my other child is blonde not like me at all but still takes after me and has a good head full, unlike their dad who hasn't got a good head of hair, lol. I don't know why probably in the gene

Doctors can have the right answer to your question.
May be because the kids inherit from their parents and if the father is bald then some babies are born without hairs.

I assume it is genetics. Fair haired babies have much less hair generally. The darker the hair is, generally there is more of it. I have never caught a bald Asian or Afro-Caribbean baby.

Im guessing the same reason that some are born with lighter skin some darker, some fatter, some thinner - genetics!!

I don't think so. I was born with a head full of hair. My sister was born with lots of hair. And my brother was completely bald. My daughter was also born with a head full of jetblack hair. :)
