Yes it is a factor (I am a Christian).

As it pertains to Romney however, his Mormonism (which I do not like) has not removed him from my consideration. I may yet vote for him.

I have worked with Mormons in the Republican Party for years. We have the same values. Romney has made it clear that he is not running to be a Mormon President but the President of the United States (and all that entails).

I must say however that I would never vote for a Muslim for example under any circumstances at all. Why? I view different religions differently.

So yes religion is a significant factor for me.

I would like someone to practice the religion that is the same as mine so that I know his/her decisions will be parallel, however, just because someone believes in something different, doesn't mean all their thoughts and actions would be evil.

Religion is a factor, but certainly not the only one.

Only if it is an extremists position the candidate takes. Would not vote for any religious leader for President, for instance.

American constitution does not discriminate between Races, Religion, Gender, Language. But in reality it is not so.The society is not fully evolved. It takes on a conservative estimate at least another half century .

Religion plays important role in Islamic countries, some countries of Europe but they don't keep it garbed.

It is important because I want someone who believes the same as me. I want someone who has the same morals as me. That is why the religion of a Presidential candidate is important to me. Since they are going to represent me.

because of my religion I do not vote because I think that religion does not have anything to do with politics, but if Jesus was here in person wanting votes I'd vote for him.

I'm Catholic but anybody who has to shout to the world how religious they are generally makes me doubt their intentions.

I'd like them to have a religious background but when running for President i'm looking at other issues first.

"Usually believers are afraid of a higher being & the consequences of one's acts, thereby they might do the right thing for society. But non-believers are not afraid of a higher being & are not afraid of the consequences of their vile acts, thereby doing anything they please & leading societies into immmorality & total decadence. So religion plays a vital part."
