It would depend on what charges the cops were leveling against him/her.
For use or selling (to an adult)? No way.
For theft, battery, selling to a child? Yes.
So, it would really, really depend.
But I would then expect that I would be followed, my phones would be tapped and generally I know I would be treated like a criminal. Probably even expect to have warrant served to search my home.
That is the price I would be willing to pay.
I would also encourage my friend to go and get a lawyer and turn him/herself in. You can hide, but you can't stay away, from the long arm of the law in our ridiculous war on drugs.

No don't do it!!!! Your friend has a problem and I truly believe that drug addiction should not be "treated" by going to jail or being arrested. It's an addiction and addicts should receive help by going to rehab and seeing a therapist. If your friend is dealing on the other hand.. that's a different matter. I would not tell the police anything their a waste of space!!

There is something you don't understand. If a friend is an addict, they are NOT your best friend. The junk is their *only* friend. They will rip you off in a heartbeat because they answer to a higher power now.
This is a hard lesson in life, but truthfully I don't think the POLICE are the solution. I would say if you know something, do not risk your own freedom to save theirs. But if you skate through that, you need to distance yourself from this friend or go full on and get involved in getting them off the junk. There is no middle ground here.

I would say I didn't know and leave it at that.
You could say you saw him a local coffee shop about 3 days ago and that was the last time you saw him or her....
unless they are in your house, and in that case they can obtain a search warrant and you will get in trouble for lying to the cops.
