If by 'performance' you mean quality of one's answers then quite the opposite.
As a retired maintenance manager (Engineer) I find that some of the dangerously misleading advice given on problems with domestic appliances, cars etc., comes from people who so obviously haven't a clue what they are talking about and should remember that neither do the askers who could act on the advice to their cost.

yes it does. It gets in the way, most of my contacts are on during crunch time at my job, they ask all of the good questions when I can't be on. I would quit if it weren't for my mortgage payment, JK
