This is a good question.
People kill instinctively for 3 reasons
- Self defense (that includes family and loved once)
- Food (we used to eat anything we kill)
- Aggression, dominance, power.
Over time, and due to the introduction of social rules then religion and then laws, this has changed. Fortunately we don't kill people for food any more and since the rules and laws protect us we rarely have to resort to killing someone. But unfortunately the rules, laws and punishment have not been strict enough to deter us from killing for power, dominance. Hence most of the murders are for power and dominance. All the above excludes the mentally disturbed, serial killers...

All of us are capable of killing. Think of this situation. Someone breaks into your home and is hurting someone you love your child, husband, wife, mother, father anyone that you truly love. Wouldn't you be able to kill that person so your loved one would not suffer? Someone who actually commits murder does it for many reasons. Jealousy, rage, being hurt by the person, rejection, money, insecurities, lack of impulse control. These are just to name a few. Every murder has a different reason. At the actual act numerous things could be going through the mind of the killer. If it is a sexual killing the killer experiences a release from his stresses. If it is a killing because of rejection, being hurt or abused by the person, angry at something the person does the killer feels vindicated and a sense of revenge.

It really depends on the circumstance as to why the person is committing the crime, who the crime is against and what the killer hopes to gain from the crime. It will vary from person to person

First example is a rage killing. Spur of the moment, acting on agression and passion. Losing control and killing someone. Some dont have enough control over their emotions to stop this or some stop just in time. Also can be for defense.

Second example is killing because assigned to kill. Hitman and Armed forces good example.

Third is premeditated murder. This is done after a thought out process in order to obtain a desired result. Whether it be power, revenge, money, jealousy, playing ''god''.

Fourth this is debateable, they say some kill for ''pleasure'' but i think theres more to it than that. I think its also about control or stems from abuse they suffered at one point and now they are are getting even. So it can fall somewhere between rage killing and pre meditated.

Also spree killing which could be premeditated but could also stem from rage.

There can be many thing that can lead a man to kill. The major one being for survival purposes which is usually quick and instantaneous. Then there's killing for regret and hate, which in a way is connected to survival. This type of killing is planned and usually takes some time. But then there's killing simply for the joy of death. This is the worst because it has no meaning and no significance to the person committing the horrible act of debauchery.

Killing is one of the crimes that a man can commit for many different reasons: It is usually combined with some motives or purposes to accomplish such an inhuman action..........
What are they? A man can run amuck for a a psychological reason...he is miserably or hopelessly desperate for something unattained...he can be mentally distured or somehow on the brink of sanity and insanity already.....it can be for personal reasons...jealousy,self-defense, revenge, rage, failure, incompetence, insecurity, rejection, passion and familial relationship...
It can also be for sociological reasons..related to what he sees around him in the place where he moves around and find society easy to penetrate ..like for thrill..pressure..need.a game...and the killer might be under drugs, even drunkardness,.and smoking dangerous stuff that will send him into another dark world to commit a crime...
In summary.........all killings done, they maybe either psychological, personal, thrill...everything has a cause, meanwhile....we should always remember that "CRIME does not pay"............

maybe they get enthusiastic about the thought of how they are about to control weather some one lives or dies

I have a book on serial killers and like we all know prety much all of them have had a messed up youth or just developed a growing fascination with death

i read once about one where the mans father was a body collector from crime scenes and as a child he grew fascinated by the crime scene photos so much he wanted to create his own and he did when he was older but firs it started the classic way with murdering animals

I doubt all killers have the same thing going through their minds

Only a killer could explain. It would take perspective that most people do not have. If you could say that killing is directly related to a mental illness or psychological condition, than how could a normal person with no experience with (or point of reference for) this defect possibly be able to describe it?

Many things. Your question is a little vague. Most people who kill don't think about it before hand. Rage ensues and they react foolishly. If it is premeditated, there are usually many reasons the person has justified in his mind for his becoming judge, jury and executioner of the intended victim.

A man might kill to protect his family or himself. In such a case I would imagine his mind would be quite clear and focused.

If they hurt a family member by rape, DUI car accident, high on drugs car accident, or if they wanted drugs and the person wouldn't give them any and out of anger if they killed someone in your family, close friend etc.if they robed a place where someone you loved was and they hurt that person you cared for.the list goes on and on.
