Yes, I think we all are. I'll admit to being one sometimes. The true definition of a hypocrite is simply saying or believing that you (and others) should behave in one way, and then turning around and acting in the opposite way.

If they're honest with themselves, there isn't a person alive who hasn't done this at least a few times in his/her life. Now, of course, there are certain people who regularly behave in a hypocritical manner, as opposed to those who honestly try to remain true to their values and beliefs. These are the people who tend to make use angry (the ones who are regular hypocrites, I mean).

As for losing its insulting meaning, I don't think that a person's admitting to being a hypocrite is what controls the insult behind the term. I believe that it is the intentions of the person using the term. If the person calling someone a hypocrite is simply trying to be helpful by pointing out a discontinuity between the person's beliefs and behaviors, then I don't think there is an insult involved. However, most of the time when a person calls someone else a hypocrite, the term is not meant to be helpful. It's meant to express anger, and there's an implied insult behind it.

No. I don't believe so. there are many people that are true to their words and beliefs. But you are correct, the word does lose it's significance of an insult once a person admits it.
