Yeah most of the time, I can fall asleep with TV, radio, music, etc. I don't mind so much!

I think reading and music might stimulate your brain a bit much and cause you to stay up even more... You might just be overly rested during the day? Maybe you need to do more activities? ...or maybe you should skip a whole night of sleep so that the next day you're ready for bed... Just kidding. =) All I know that works for me is to just clear my head, maybe take a hot bath, drink some hot chocolate or tea, and lay down in the dark. Eventually I just drift off to sleep. If you think it's getting pretty bad, you can see a specialist or a doctor about insomnia.

I go through little phases. Recently, I have been setting the sleep timer on my ipod as I fall asleep to Incubus' Aqueous Transmission. It's very soothing.
So, I CAN fall asleep with music on, but it needs to be soft music and it will eventually need to go off.

A great many people listen to music to help them get to sleep rather than using pills etc.
Personally I listen to old comedy radio programs like Steptoe and Hancock. Although they are great programs, eventually I hear them so often, they drive me to sleep.
Equally there are some people who do need as near silence as possible. If they listened to anything it is likely to keep them awake.
Its just a case of personal preference really.

Both can do. I can fall asleep with the music on. Sometimes, with the TV on also.

I need music, or a fan or something. If there is complete silence I cannot sleep

Not music, nor pure silence; I need urban noise like traffic, car alarms, & police sirens to keep me asleep. Don't know why but that happens to me though. lol =P

It depends on what I need at the time.
If I do put on music to sleep, it is usually Classical or Meditative (sounds of the ocean, or birds at the seashore, etc). And THEN it has to be turned down real low.

I'm a really light sleeper which really pis*** me off when i hear my alarm first thing in the morning!!
lol
And so i have to have absolute silence and i also like it pitch black!!
Although i do like silence i tend to get used to not having it when someone is lying next to me snoring!
