Philip Pullman the trilogy His Dark Materials.
It's science fiction about a girl, named Lyra, in another world and a boy, named Will, from our world, who meet and save the world from the propatoric sin.
The first book is going to be in the cinemas in December. (Northern Lights or Golden Compass)
I personally loved it.Couldn't stop reading. It's the best science fiction book after Lord of the Rings and Narnia. Some people actually compared him with Tolkien.

If you love the classics, read The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy or anything by Charles Dickens. If you enjoy modern fiction (specifically thriller and horror) try some Richard Laymon. His books are addictive and just plain fun to read. My favorites are Island and After Midnight. Couldn't put either down. Happy reading!

Take a look at the selection at New Free Books.
Free reads... in copyright and legal. An interesting selection.
If you like to be informed and entertained at the same time, take a look at the first on the list. Quite potent, hightly engaging.

I don't read much but I recently was loaned a very funny travel book called "McCarthys Bar" by Pete McCarthy about his journey around Ireland.
A very easy but fun read - the first line had me cracked up, and whilst it is a serious book, it has some very amusing situations.
I'd recommend to anyone.

HI Alexandra, I'm 27.
I have just started my own online bookstore specialising in inspirational, heartwarming, positive and uplifting books.
I agree with Kapes about The Alchemist. It is gorgeous. There's a bunch more I could mention but it would be easier to just refer you to my site, where I have done personal reviews on most of them - especially the novels section at www.growthbooks.com
Hope that helps!

Go read something by Paulo Coelho (the Alchemist) or M. Scott Peck (Purpose Driven Life, The Road Less Traveled). They're really inspirational and heartwarming books. If you're looking for something simpler, read something by Katherine Paterson (Bridge to Terabithia, Jacob have I loved) or E.L. Konigsburg (The Mixed-up Files...)...they're really good children's authors.
