And if anybody can remember back this far did Flip get his idea for 'Geraldine' from Milton Berle's, not sure on the character's name, 'Aunt Miltie'?

I have to agree with the rest on this one. What goes around comes around! I guess the men-in-drag genre will always be funny because a caricature usually moves on to become even more of a caricature of itself.

I agree with the others ...with most things there is nothing new under the sun ....movies, books, clothes ....mostly all of them are patterned some way on the past.

Geraldine "The Devil Made me do it" was a great line. But men dressing as women goes way back to Roman times when women weren't allowed to act. Men performed all the roles ......nothing's new.

That's a very real possibility. But Martin played a large variety of characters in the show, including his mom, so who knows where he got the original idea from.

I'm pretty sure thats where he got it from. All todays comedians take from the old school comedians all the time.
