i need to work out percentages where the numbers are larger than the number that i want the percentage of. i.e. 113.7 as a percentage of 112.0. HELP!!!!

You calculate it in the same way as a normal percentage but your answer will be greater than 100. So 113.7/112*100 is 101.5% or 1.5% bigger.

You always do the same. If you wanted 25 as a percentage of 50 you do (25/50)x100 = 50% (obviously). So you always take what you have and divide it by the total you could have, so in this case do (113.7/112)x100 = 101.5%. This of course looks about right as you have slightly more than 100%. It'll work every time.

If you divide the number you need to know the percentage of, ie 113.7 by the figure representing 100%, ie 112, and then multiply by 100 you will have your answer.

Will work whether the figure is bigger or smaller.

In this case the answer is 101.5%

113.7 x 100 / 112 = 101.51 percent approx.

Just divide and slide the decimal over two places. Divide and slide, just like any other percent problem.
