GOP stands for Grand Old Party.
Democrats are usually liberal. They want the government to run everything. Liberals want to run the government.
Republicans are usually conservative. They favor less taxes, less government, more personal freedoms.

Increasingly there is less differences between the 2 parties.
GOP- Grand Ole Party- not a joke that is what it stands for. For real. Seriously
To Neptunes, get real the republicans no longer favor less government spending or little involvement in Americans lives, where have you been the last 6 -7 years. They also support policies that will force people to raise taxes later. They are horrible.

There isn't much difference in the political goals of the two parties. Both are funded by, and represent the interests of America's wealthy-elite. The Republicans role is to aggressively pursue those interests while the Democrats role is to pose as defender of the working class in an effort to channel public anger in a harmless direction.

Originally the French gave us the Republic and the Greeks gave us Democracy.
Hence - we put them together, create 2 sides and you have the American way.
This is known as a free market society (otherwise known as our freedom).
I'm right, no I'm right, no I'm right gee, it sounds just like an election. Everyone is free to sell his wares.

The difference is what they say.
However, they both lie, and end up doing pretty much the same things.

Nothing when they are both being bought and paid for by the same corporations -the only way to level the playing field would be to limit contributions to $100.00 per contributor (affordable for every american who votes pretty much-and also allow corporations to contribute to the campaigns of choice at least you know who is bought upfront and can will be making a more informed decision when going to the polls (why all the smoke and mirrors?)

The spelling is different.
regerugged: GOP want more personal freedom? What about the repeal of habeas corpus, the patriot act, enacting property seizure laws, domestic spying. GOP is for economic rights (let the rich keep their money) but never has been for civil liberties.
