Brooks Robinson or Clete Boyer? And how would Scott Rolen compare with them? (Also-did anyone see Doug Rader play? He won 5 straight gold gloves from '70-74, but I never saw him play).

The only 3rd baseman who should even be allowed in the same sentence as Brooks Robinson is Mike Schmidt.

I think Brooks Robinson was the better gloveman. He was awesome. Boyer was good, too, but Robinson was the more complete player. I don't know about Rolen and I never saw Rader either.

People have forgotten how good Clete Boyer was. His brother Kenny could hit, but Clete could get em. He was an underappreciated cog in the 1961 Yankees, and, well, all of their teams he was on. But not much of a stick. Brooks Robinson wasn't all that much but he really did tower over Clete with a bat. So -- Brooks.

Honest, Doug Rader didn't make my radar much, either.

Personal opinion - Robinson was number one, followed by Mike Schmidt, Clete Boyer, Rolen, Rader, Ken Boyer, Aurelio Rodriguez, Graig Nettles.

EDIT: Good one, Ricky Lee: I forgot about Reitz. Another greqt glove.

Brooks Robinson is the greatest third baseman who ever lived. He got to the Hall of Fame due to his sixteen gold gloves, not his bat. Doug Radar was a very goog defensive player as well and could also hit. Comparing Boyer to Brooks defensively is not fair to Boyer.

Brooks Robinson was the best, Rolen is probably on eof the better players today, but nothing like Brooks Robinson.

Brooks was the best I've ever saw play 3rd with the glove, maybe the Zamboni Ken Reitz was up there too.I always thought Rolen was a Stud, but his shoulder injury has killed him the last 3 years.Rader was also good but not in Brooks Class.

Both were very good but no one was better than Brooks Robinson, I saw him play many times.
