When there is no emotion and no attachment what are we left with? Does the soul no longer care about anyone or anything?

Joys and sufferings are like day and night. One cannot be without the other. Only joy will be boring and only suffering will be miserable. Contorolled emotions are a risk and too much attachment is suffering. Parents getting too much attached to children find it difficult when the child goes away for studies. Parents feel lonely whrn the daughter gets married and goes to her in-laws place. Everyone knows these are inevfitable still such attchments continue. I would suggest one should have a "detached attachment" whcih means get attched to a certain extent and take happenings as theycome

There's chitosan before liposuction - a simpler food supplement that prevents fat from being digested. Gambling and drug addiction do seem the preserve of optimists, but such habits are unhealthy unless they are completely in check - people at meetings are struggling with that. Look up words/phrases like 'panacea' & 'rose-tinted spectacles' in conjunction with politics and 'the masses'. I once described such a thing transpiring and called it the 'rolling moment' which required halting reality and starting everything again in sync, and continuing to halt and restart until it is clear synchronised progress without halting is what should be and continues to happen - likened to an old episode of the original Battlestar Galactica series where a Cylon was reactivated and shut down continually until it no longer posed a homicidal threat - something along those lines.... You'll be doing something along the lines of making millionaires of people on the hour every hour though, then the economy will crash as money becomes worthless and other problems arising will change the cause of suffering

I think that we cannot fully detach ourselves from our emotions but we can handle them in a healthy way. Life does bring us joys and sufferings but it is part of living. Emotions are not the problem. It's how we handle them that matters. To live without emotions is, I think, to be a zombie. Even if it was possible to have no emotions at all and no attachments, what woul we have then? no human relationship at all. If you think about it, emotions are a part of our relationship to everyone. Without it, how can we be happy if we don't know what happiness FEELS like?

yes.. by letting our reason rule above them(emotions).

when there is no emotion and no attachments, we are just left with objective way of dealing with anything and anyone in our daily lives.
The soul particularly cares about itself, as it always does.. it will just keep freeing itself from impurities so that when it is released, it can join back its Creator. Caring(emotions) is one of the functions of the brain. the soul(also philosophers call it psyche) is inherent by itself debased by the body.

Learning to detach ourselves from our emotions is like learning to detach ourselves from our retinas -

right - when so detached, you no longer care about anything and life is one big greyness with obligations.

If a human being has no emotions then he is not a human being, You can't detach yourself from emotions but you can control your emotions, and that is when you will succeed in life.

I think we automatically shut down our emotions when we reach our limit to emotional suffering. The weaker ones will need psychiatric help. It would be your decision if you'll still care or not.

Agreed. However, a person can "turn their heart to stone" if they choose to. But suffering and joy is part of the experience of life. Trying to avoid this is really cowardice.

LIFE "IS". The joy and suffering comes from what we "think" about the LIFE!

its about controlling your emotions.bcoz everything in life dosen't go according to us.what i feel is life is a great teacher itself."more you know less you fear" , you can't change the way you are but you can mould yourself according to time & situation.it takes time but slowly slowly you can increase your level of patience.think for best & get ready for worst.
