Santa LIVES! I see Santa everywhere these days. That Santa clone machine is a marvel. Why, just last night, I held the door open for Santa as she lugged a huge bag full of goodies into a restaurant. (I think that Santa clone had surgery during the off-season, though ....)
Actually, I was just about done with the Santa stuff when I was about 7. We lived in a tiny apartment on a hillside in Santa Monica and didn't have any family or friends in our new city. Dad worked hard to support his growing family (4 kids by then and still counting ....) He traveled a lot on his job and Mom counted every nickle. there wasn't much time or extra money for Christmas shopping. And then on Christmas Eve, when I was helping with the other kids, there came a loud knock on the front door.
It was the boyfriend of the woman who lived across the street. One of Los Angeles' most prominent Jewish leaders, he owned a then-famous local chain of shoe stores, and somehow his girlfriend had figured us out. Behind him were two guys with an immense Christmas tree. In they came, along with a mssive box of ornaments and lights. For the next hour, Carl played with us and everyone else put up lights, decorations, and about 500 pounds of "icicles." He lifted up my baby sister so she could put a big star on the top of the tree. And then, he made everyone except Dad go out and get in his big limousine to drive over for an ice cream.
When we got back, Dad had a huge grin on his face. Carl was gone. We all trooped into the kitchen, and Pop closed the door to give us all hugs and wipe off our chins. I noticed he needed to wipe up, too, his face was all wet.
Just about then there came an immense crashing and noise from the front, a bell ringing loudly, and a booming voice filled the house: "Ho! Ho! Ho-o-o-o!" We dashed out and THERE WAS SANTA! He swung his big sack around and while the little ones jumped and grabbed and pulled at his whiskers, he handed out presents for eveyrone. Best of all, EACh of us got beautiful new SHOES!
We wee so excited and buys tearing open pacakges, we hardly noticed when Santa paused at the front door, waved, and in a voice a bit too emotional for our popular image of Santa, said, "Oh, merry, merry Christmas, and to all a good night!" I thought I heard his sleigh, but maybe it was only that big old limousine.
Heck yeah, that saved my faith in Santa. Doesn[t matter what else goes on with me and faith, every year since, I have found way to imitate that Santa.

well my parents told me the truth about santa claus ever since ive known about him. ive never actually believed in him, we just had fun giving each other gifts that were from "santa". im kinda glad i wasn't led on. but my friends were always told that santa was real, so one day when i told them they weren't their mom AND grandma yelled at me for telling them that. how TRAUMATIZING. i was only 6 years old. hahaha.

i never belived in santa because my parents were sincer with me. but they would give me presents.
they dont even belive in christmas. we only celebrate it because every one does. christmas is a pagan celebration it was not the day when jesus was born.
chistmas is more of a custom and santa is a fairy tale.
