I'm trying to learn math n I don't even have a teacher......

That is hard!

- 3(2x + 10) = 5(6x – 5) + 10

Distribute:

6x - 30 = 30x - 25 + 10

Ooh I see now put the x numbers on the left.

36x =

But what about the 30 on the left side....so confusing! I don't get it yet. Can u teach me pls.

First take your hand away from the mouse and scratch your nose tip! LOL~~~~
♦ Distribute: -6x - 30 = 30x - 25 + 10;
Flip x’s to the left, and numbers to the right;
-36x = 15, hence x=-15/36 =-5/12;
♦ now take your mouse back and scoll;

You have made a mistake in the first step itself
If(2x+10) is multiplied by -3,the product would be -6x-30 and NOT 6x-30
The right solution is given below
-3(2x+10)=5(6x-5)+10
-6x-30=30x-25+10
-6x-30x=-25+10+30
[bringing all the variables to the left hand side and all the constants to the right hand side,remembering to change their sign,when they change their sides]
-36x= 15
x= 15/ -36=-5/12

– 3(2x + 10) = 5(6x – 5) + 10
(– 3)× 2x + (– 3)× 10 = 5 × 6x – 5 ×5 + 10
On LHS term (– 3) is there outside the bracket, while opening the bracket, multiply each term in the bracket by (– 3)
and On RHS term (5) is there outside the bracket, while opening the bracket, multiply each term in the bracket by (5)
so – 6 x – 30 = 30 x – 25 + 10
– 6 x – 30 = 30 x – 15
– 6 x + 6 x – 30 = 30 x – 15 + 6 x ---------- adding – 6 x on both the sides
– 30 = 36 x – 15
– 30 + 15 = 36 x – 15 + 15 adding + 15 on both sides
– 15 = 36 x
– 15/36 = 36 x/36 --divide both sides by 36
– 15/36 = x -------- divide 15 by 3 and 36 by 3 to get reduced form of fraction.
or x = – 5/12

-6x-30=30x-25+10
Pass all terms containing x to one side(left) changing sign of the passing ones
-6x-30x = 30-25+10 so -36 x= 15 and x = -15/36 = -5/12

- 6x - 30 = 30x - 25 + 10
- 36x = - 25 + 10 + 30
- 36x = 15
36x = - 15
x = (-15) / 36
x = - 5 / 12

Ok you've expanded it

6x - 30 = 30x - 25 + 10

Simplify before anything

so, 6x - 30 = 30x -15

Now you have to get the x values on one side (taking the smallest from the largest) and the number values on the other side.

6x - 30 = 30x - 15
-6x -6x
-30 = 24x - 15
+30 +30
0 = 24x + 15
-15 = 24x
x = -15/24
=-0.6250

-3(2x+10)=5(6x-5)+10
-6x-30=30x-25+10
-6x-30x=-25+10+30
-36x=-15+30
-36x=15
x = -15/36

2007-12-04 21:29:03 · answer #7 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

-3(2x+10)=5(6x-5)+10
Distribute:
-6x+-30=30X-25+10

Combine like terms (-25+10): *like terms means they have the same variable to the same degree
-6x+-30=30X+-15

Move all like terms to the proper side of the equation so they can be combined:
-30+15=30X+6X

Combine like terms:
-10=36X

Divide both sides by 36 to solve for X:
X=-36/10

Simplify:
X=-16/5
