good question, but really, did they ever have souls - the vacuous moron that was 'Posh Spice', or the great footballer, easy on the eye but not much between the ears. If they hadn't become famous their lives would be ones of stunning mediocrity, like most peoples.
At the end of the day we all become soulless if we are just vain and materialistic

Fortunately for them, they were not brought up in a culture that believes that, otherwise they may have made completely different career choices. But they aren't hurting anybody, we all have the choice not to look at the pictures or read the articles. So let them be.
