Is malicious and willful slanderous texting via mobile phone punishable by law? What is the right case to be filed?

I thought anything on the telephone was a federal offense and punishable by law. It's harrassment. It may even be considered more these days, inciting terror. Check into it.

Yes and no:
You need to be able to prove who the sender was. OK you may have sending number but can you prove the owner of the phone sent it? Frankly the law would be on your side. Depending on what is being said it could be slanderous if available to others as could deformation of character

Beside harassment, it can be considered as threaten. However, you need evidence, esp. its willfulness. Tape recorder can do some good. Just record the complete phone conversation.
