I'm 15 years old and I would do anything to be on stage, but I have no idea where to even begin. I'm most passionate about historical plays, especially Shakespeare. I pretend I'm Juliet whenever I'm alone and I know most of her lines by heart (that's another thing, I'm very shy, though I KNOW I could play Juliet very well). I don't go to school (I'm homeschooled) but I might be going next semester, I've heard that highschools put on plays? I'm interested in doing historical plays, I ADORE the Renaissance... but I don't think the highschools around here do those sorts, they do modern plays
I DO NOT plan to pursue this as a career, I don't care if I never make a cent from it, I just really want to act (I'm not too big on being in movies like most..a live, passionate play is my idea of perfection)
I want to be Juliet. problem is, I have absolutely no idea where to begin, and the fact that I'm very shy doesn't help either. Any help is appreciated--I see this question is asked 1000 times

Find a local theater in your area. Since you are homeschooled, see if some places need you to help and be in their shows.

Well, since you obviously have an internet connection, try looking for any community theatre in your area. Since you like Shakespeare so much, maybe do a search on Shakespeare festivals, and see whether they are professional or volunteer base. Keep in mind that when you are first starting out it can be rather difficult, and you may not always get the part you want, or even one at all, but if this is something that you think you would enjoy, keep at it. Also, if you are looking to go to university after high school, these kinds of activities looked great when applying, no matter what degree you pursue.
Also, find out if the high school in your area has a forensics (competetive theatre) program. I did it for three years when I was in high school, and it was alot of fun. I know you said you were home schooled, but some programs will let home schoolers travel with their team.

Here's a site where you can find out about reference books that might help you locate regional theatres and summer theatres in your area:

www.theatredirectories.com

You can also check your local phone book and newspaper calendar listing for information about nearby community theatres.

Some summer theatres have apprentice and intern programs that might be right for you. (Different theatres have different age requirements.) Don't expect to get cast in the lead role in a Shakespeare play when you're just starting out. Be prepared to take smaller roles and to do lots of backstage work. I know that Juliet is only 13 in the play, but she is almost always played by an older actress. I know one woman who played the role at 24 and another who played it at 31, so you have time.

When the time comes for you to apply to college, look for a school with a good theatre program. There's no guarantee that your college will do Romeo & Juliet during your four years there, but there will surely be plenty of other acting opportunities.

There are many places in Malaysia to get involved with theatre or the performing arts.

If you are in KL why dont you try KLPac or 5 Arts. These two bodies will be most happy to welcome you to join them.

Give them a call and tell them that you are interested in theatre and that you want to be part of their production.

However, you do have to understand that you will not be made the main role straight away or even if they are staging any historical pieces at that point. These are things you have to work on.

What is important is that you get to know and be part of the team. You should also be open about doing other things in theatre like helping out with props, sounds, stage management, front-of-house and such to be part of the team.

Good luck
