Are they scared that someone will steal their soul? And do they hide their face in the real world?
What is the fear behind this?
I get heavily criticized by some poeple for posting mine but I can't understand why? I have no problem with other people seeing what I look like.
Can anyone explain that to me too?

Anna - what's a pseudo personage? You are who you are, both online and off. If it's pseudo, it's not you, what would be the point in being someone you're not?

Invisible being - Cyber pervs and cyber stalkers can't hurt you. In the past 6 months I've had avatars, I've had normal photo's and pro photo's up but I don't get treated any differently by the cyber pervs and stalkers. In fact I used to get more approaches from pervs and stalkers (as you call them) when I used my avatar. Pervs and stalkers are more dangerous in real life but even then they're only people. Maybe they approach me because they know they're not going to get judged, but I always remember that when someone makes a judgement about someone else they say more about themselves than about the person they're judging. There's good in everyone. You just have to look for it.

Never had a cyber stalker, would love it if it was someone sexy. lol. Really, people like to remain anonymous as some people reveil such private stuff about themselves. People see me in the street...I'm in public view.....no harm has come to me. I don't give out addresses etc for safety though. I hold my hands up, I'm addicted to here when I am not working.....lol. People can judge me...but I ONLY answer to myself. People don't like me...their problem. I m, what you see is what you get. Steal my soul...but not my ID. Suppose I fear that I can look rather silly.... Phtttt! lol

I am just too lazy to take a decent looking picture of myself, which is almost an oxymoron. I take plenty of pictures of people like the grandkids, or specifically them. Who wants to see an old fat man?
Seriously, many women of all ages do not because there is a real chance of an unwanted someone looking for them. Yes, you may read that as a stalker. A picture only lets one of them be certain that he or she has found the right victim. Several years ago, I met a rather young woman from California in an adult chat room, Yahoo! Race Relations. Her profile included almost everything about her but which room in the house was hers. It was suggested that several items of information be removed. She may have been an internet cop, but why take the chance?
I also did the same thing with my daughter, who is old enough to know better, just this year.

you are so stupid. This website is for asking and answering questions annonymously if you so chose to. Maybe some dont want anyone to know who they are. Also the avatars are more fun to use plus the site was having problems with uploading photos. Personally i think the avatars are more fun. I hate people that use real pictures and who the f are you trying to show off for? Why would YOU WANT to post your real picture? Thats the question.

if it is a new profile it would be because yahoo wont let you add or change a picture, that feature isn't working.
but other reasons are to hide their true identity to people who know them in real life, maybe because they have this alter ego thing on here. that i have seen to often. the online life vs. the real one haha.
being anonymous has it advantages i guess but it does make me wonder what or who they want to be anonymous to. and if it the person they are talking to then why talk in the first place. btw mine is posted on mine.
also beware of people who have "no answer" down marital status lol

Becouse they want to hide themself for personal purpose.
No, they are not. No, they are not.
There is no fear behind those matter. It is just that they are what they are. Personality of society.
That's a good thing that people criticized you as it will improve yourself to a better person. That's better.
You no need to be explain much as you can observe yourself from within with yourown thought and questions about yourself. Be notice that, to think positively about assessing yourself if you do it. :).

Maybe some are famous and have a face you would recognize, this forum may give them the opportunity of communicating with people without them behaving or responding differently to how they would if the person was not a house hold name, perhaps!.

cos its an anonymous site, also i know some people just use the identity as a group, so there would be no room for all the photos then. but hey, post your pic if you want to, it does make it more personal. just be wary of giving out too much personal info online.

Some of us are so famous we would be recognised.
We already have intrusive press, and we want freedom to be ourselves, without headlines.
This applies in small communities too.
But I am not a real Sir John,,, my friends nick named me.
I just have an ancient coat of arms - design on a shield etc
