Sorry if my sarcasm didn't come through properly - it does sound like a joke!

Seriously though, the president of the US (the world's last superpower) is the only person who has it within his power to enact a workable peace settlement. However, he does need allies, so why continue to have enemies there?

Because our government gets its marching orders from Israeli-firsters in our government, in our think tanks, and from the Israeli government itself. Iran and Syria are perceived as threats to Israel.

"An acrimonious argument erupted during the Israeli cabinet weekly session last week between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his foreign Minister Shimon Peres during which Sharon reportedly yelled at Peres, saying "don't worry about American pressure, we control America."

Bush could be remembered as the man who created mid-east peace if that was his true agenda, however that is far from what he intends to accomplish.

His goal has been to steal Iraqi oil and to cause the price of oil to rise by saber rattling about Iran in an effort to cause worry about the oil supply being disrupted. Mission accomplished so far.

I am having difficulty understanding this joke because it is so pathetic when you consider the complete failure of Condi Rice and the Bush Administration in peace talks in the mid east. This last fiasco of bringing leaders and political members of Palistine and Israel to the United States only emphasized the failure.
Thanks

Uh, do mean to say that Iran is not funding [terror] in Iraq and that they have such a peaceful, tolerant government running their country? Or, that Syria's policies are not identical to Iran's concerning Israel, America, progress in Iraq or western ideology? (I mean, You'd think that they get the L.A. Times over there or something!)

Iran & Syria invented antagonizing.

I'm sorry, did you expect to get a "Bush-bashing" answer? Well, you realize that there's something called the majority, right?
