That reminds me of a Rob Gordon quote from the movie High Fidelity: "Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?""

I think it's because it's a desirable way for us to remember, misery isn't exclusive to our lives, and at any given time, someone is feeling bad about something. Maybe the blues were invented for no other reason than as a way to reach out and touch others when your to hurt to do it in the flesh.

Funny but 98% of country & western songs are about misery, despair, disaster, etc. Its either the dawg or some farm animal died; a wife or girlfriend left, the barn was burned to the ground; the car ''died'' on him or something that's not right nor happy. But many people, including myself, just enjoy the music and the lyrics as compared to todays music.

I don't know i guess that the song relates to the people that are listening. I think that it is kinda depressing to listen to all of the time.
