Well I did a few photo shoots for abercrombie but now I really want to try acting. Thing is I ask this, because a lot of models I know didn't make it well as actors because they lacked something "unique"

I tried some auditions already but I keep getting told you would do well in soap operas...WHYY!?

If you're confident that that is what you want then go for it dude. Don't fret over what others say. It's your life live it. As far as soap operas are concerned, you may carry that look or just act that way. If you've ever seen 'I wanna be a soapstar' you'll know what kind of acting I'm talking about.

Don't worry about failing at it. Who knows you may actually lack that something "unique" but you won't know unless you give it your best shot. So do just that.

Hope this helps. Best of luck following your dreams!

If you want to act, then act! If you have no skill at it, take classes and improve yourself. I presume you're in either NY or LA, in which case many classes and private teachers can be found.

And with your looks, you WOULD do well in soap operas -- if you peruse a few of them, you'll see that they do use mostly beautiful people. The money can be quite good [a friend & colleage of mine has been on "All My Children" for years], and the ones produced in NY allow you the freedom to do theatre as well [the producers are quite good about working story lines so that someone can be gone occasionally].

Oh, and regarding your first paragraph, making it as an actor is not so much about having something "unique" as it is about having passion and energy. Frankly, your looks would help as well, since theatres also cast attractive people much of the time.

Look, don't knock the soap opera route. If you get work you've got a steady job with a good income and you have the golden opportunity to perfect your craft. Show business is highly competitive for every kind of performer, so take whatever opportunity comes your way. Commercials, soap operas, modeling ... just keep at it.

acting is something that requires skill, socialism, courage, beauty and inspiration and great acting skills. you will not only have to look good but will have to have superb acting. seeing that you had photo shoots is a good first step. if you feel as if you have the looks and talent you should get into acting and develop from your photo shoots and the more you act and are seen by people the more popular you will get and people might want you to act for them and so might create a future for you. you also do have to be unique as you can and when auditioning if you are not unique or good enough practice and get better and try again or audition for something else. but if you are just no good at acting and feel that you don't have what it takes or if you decide you don't like it try something else that suits you.
remember it's all about personal taste.

Yeah, try acting.

I think part of the reason they could be telling you to try soap operas is that you ARE good looking. Soap operas prefer the attractive type.

But still, a career in acting can be fun, rewarding, and fulfilling. Use your looks to get you places, and don't forget that soap operas can be a great springboard for other shows or films.

GOOD LUCK!

If you want it badly enough, keep trying, even if it means going on a soap opera.
