Letter jacket? What are you hanging on to? When I went to a party tonite and put on a skirt I made when my youngest daughter was a baby (I only wear it once a year, and it is a long Christmas plaid, so it is still as pretty as new) I thought about how old it was (40 yrs!!!) and started thinking about some of the other clothes I have had for years, mostly classic holiday stuff. I still have a red crew neck sweater that I wore in highschool, and it is still wearable! My two daughters wore it when they went to highschool! I even wore it a couple of times last winter. What do you have that you still wear, from days gone by?

I buy new things all the time, and get rid of bags of clothes every year, I guess some things are just to good to give up.

I do like vintage clothing also, I still regret not keeping some Victorian blouses that I had in highschool. They were cool.
I have a couple of vintage lambskin fur jackets from the 40's that I love.

Because I made a lot of my own clothes I couldn't bare to part with them so I have things I made in the 40s, my own wedding dress copied from a picture I saw in Vogue from mid 50s , my daughters ditto. Later I worked in the theatre so never threw anything away as we needed things from all periods. NOW what am I going to do with them. My grandchildren turn their noses up despite the fact that some other grandchildren somewhere would love my psychedelic shirts and flared trousers. S

Isadora, you are an icon of stability in a world of change! I think movei makers model some characters on you!
I don't have ANYTHING from high school or college - except that which resides in my bursting brain. funny you bring that up, however. I was just thinking a few days ago about seeing if I could get a new edition of the letter jacket from school. Getting the letters I earned would be impossible, of course - baseball, football, track and basketball (uh, I was always the team manager, not a player).
Anyhow, if I did have any of that stuff let, it would be in a museum of Ancient Costume now!

I kept a box of my 50's clothes for years. My husband like to get rid of anything that we haven't used in the last 6 months, so I gave in and he took my poodle skirts and crinoline half slips, Jantzen sweaters Joyce shoes, Pendleton skirts and Jackets, etc. to the thrift store .
I did hide his Letterman sweater and jacket and our daughter's and granddaughter's still borrow them to wear to their 50's dances and celebrations.
I so sorry I didn't keep them some of my cloths, just for old times sake.
Thanks for the memories.

I love my jean jacket, and I don't think I will ever let that one go because even though they sell alot of those still, there will never be one like the one I've got ever again. Specially with some styles they come up with now. Anyway, I also hang on to my senior t-shirt, specially since I was the one who designed it. Its awsome and brings back good memories.

I have two sweatshirts with the Panther across the front. The panther was the school mascot. I haven't stepped into a school (except for parent-teacher conferences about my own young'uns) since 1957. Those two shirts are 50 years old!

Nothing in my closet from that long ago. Moved too many times. But I do love looking in the thrift store in the vintage clothes and remember when I used to wear the bell bottoms and one piece body suits . they were cool.

A one piece blue Jantzen bathing suit. A beautiful pink lace dress and the pink hanger with the store's name on it. It was purchased in Downey, California and I keep it because of sentimental reasons and the fact that the store has been gone for decades.

We have two of my husband's high school letter jackets. The grandsons like to look at them, ask about the awards and try them on. I don't have anything from my high school years. None of my high school clothes would fit me anyway because I'm several sizes larger now.

I hate to admit this... I have an old baby button sweater from the Limited "Outback Red collection" its pink, tattered and soft as can be... I wear it when I'm feeling under the weather - it always comforts me... but I wouldn't be caught dead in public with it on!!!

My husband and I bought matching sweaters (his or hers), ecru colored, with no buttons or zippers. On the back of each is a big tiger. We had to wear them just to keep warm while we lived in Seoul, Korea from 1974-1976. My husband's is marked with last name and last 4 of ss#. That's how we tell them apart.
