they are both equally important to me for different reasons. My professional life reflects they type of person I am on the job as well as in the community. My personal life fulfills my spiritual and emotional needs. Both are very important to me.

No. A profession can always be replaced with another, it maybe disappointing but still its not life shattering.
A personality on the other hand is entwined to a person, losing one's personality, (amnesia or schizophrenia or whatever) will greatly debilitate a person's life and well-being.

You are supposed to have both.
You would be fooling yourself if you sooth yourself by lying that if one is too good, it should compensate for the lack in the other.
If you sacrifice one for the other, you will lose people whose only job on earth is belonging in one of your worlds.
